We were camping this weekend at a lake near Oklahoma City. We had a pull thru on the lake. Our neighbor had a travel trailer in the adjacent pull thru. He had several friends visiting and also a boat and trailer. The same cars had been there the whole time. a truck and boat trailer, the camper and 3 small cars. This was a long pull thru adjacent to the lake. When we got up sunday morning, I noticed the camper and truck and trailer was gone, but the 3 small cars were still on the site. Later a police officer (this is a city park) came by and asked us if we knew who owned the cars. I said they had been there all weekend and I assume they are out on the lake in the boat.
well, it turns out that the guy who had paid for the site and had the camper checked out in the morning and they gave the site to another party that were tent campers but had cars and friends that were visiting. they were parked all over the place because they set up on the site but they could only use part of the site. It turns out around 8:30 p.m. the truck and boat pulls up full of people coming back to claim their cars and leave. they had tickets on their cars. they blocked the road for several minutes while they unloaded the boat! Holiday campers! You never know what you will see on a holiday weekend!

We are park hosts at a state park and this weekend a young woman pulled into a site (ignoring the fact that this a reservation park) and started putting up a tent. She was lucky (because this is a very popular park and open sites aren't that common) that the site was not reserved and I was able to let her rent it for a night.
I thought she was alone but after she had the whole camp set up a guy I hadn't seen - windows were tinted - that had been sitting on his butt in the car the whole time came out and went into the tent.
At first I thought he probably had a health problem or something but as the weekend progressed it was obvious that there was nothing at all wrong with him.
When they left it was a repeat of the earlier situation except it was raining and windy and it was harder for her to break camp.
He did look like he might have been from the middle east and maybe in his culture that's the way it is done.
In any case, how they handle things is absolutely none of my business but it still seemed odd to me.

I was camped on public land in a spot that was a popular swimming area. A couple of guys walked into our camp and asked if they could use our river access to get some water. They both carried those 5 gallon jugs that you would find on an office water cooler. A few hours later 5 or 6 people came, all carring the same 5 gallon jugs. They did this 3 or 4 time throughout the day. I hate to be judgemental but they looked like meth-heads. (missing teeth and open sores) I can't figure out why anyone would need that much river water.

We had paid for 3 sites from Friday-Sunday this weekend. Our friend decided to arrive Sat a.m. At 11:30 p.m. a guy in a very loud gas engine golf cart pulls into the empty site (that we paid for) and sits there outside our bedroom with the engine going. My husband got up and shined the flashlight in his direction. He sat perfectly still, I guess thinking we didn't see him. Finally took off. Now what was the purpose of sitting in this non-view campsite at 11:30 p.m. and waking everyone up with the noisy engine! I reported the guy to the ranger the next day and they set a curfew for golf carts at 10 p.m.

This weekend there were several tent campers( 6-7 guys 20's) next to the lake. We were parked across the road from them. I watched with amusement as they unloaded and unloaded more stuff from their cars. Then came out the huge Stereo. I thought ok here we go. I worried for no reason. They kept things to the low. They even ran out of chairs (I noticed when I passed to go fishing) so I volunteered a couple of my extra folding chairs. I just asked to please drop them off in front of the motorhome when they left. They were all gone when I awoke, looked for my chairs. Not only were the chairs there nicely folded , but there was a 12 pack of bud light and a note thanking me. Talk about a class act!!

Wow, that's sure a nice, heart-warming story. And class act is right!

But they weren't the only class act!
