I don't want to get anyone into trouble, however, I don't want anyone else to have the problems that I had in getting a response and road service from Good Sam RV. I have carried Good Sam Road Service for 12 1/2 years and have always gotten great service. However, on May 4, 2008 I experienced about the worse service one could ever experience.
I had left my motorhome in Montgomery to have the refrigerator worked on and had made arrangement to pick the MH up on Sunday afternoon at the dealership. When I got to the MH at 5:00 PM all the onboard batteries were dead and no one except the night watchman was there. Since I had an appointment in Tuscaloosa the next day at 8:00 AM I had to get the MH started. No problem... call the road service. First, I was put on hold for 35 minutes. Then when the lady answered she was very unprofessional. Instead of " Are you in a safe Place?", I got someone that did not know what a motorhome was much less what type of service to send. Then after 45 minutes she sent a man in his car with a set of jumper cables to start a diesel. When he saw the MH he left. Another call ... 15 minutes on hold. Second man with a small tow truck ( He had to use my jumper cables). After 45 minutes he left. Another call ... 20 minutes on hold. Finally one of the service men from the MH dealership came by the dealership and got some electrical cords and we were able to get the onboard generator started. With a battery charges from his shop, a jump from his truck and the house batteries we were finally able to start the MH engine at 10:00 PM. We ran the engine for 15 minutes before we felt that it was safe to drive and use our lights. As we were leaving the third service man showed up at the dealership.
This was not the type of service from Good Sam that I expected and was not the type of service that I have experienced in the past. If I were in charge of a company, I would want to know when poor service was given and would want to take corrective action.
Thank You,
BFH

Sounds like the dealership slipped up on this to by letting your batteries get low! Like about call and talk to a supervisor as to why they sent you 2 tow companies that were not able to handle your MH and why they would pay these companies for none service.

Not every call will get the same responce nor will all clerks have the same abilities.. I know what it is to meet on the phone or in person a stone head.. We were disabled at a road side rest 3 yrs ago. I knew the actual location as a mile marker was visiable and the route number was an Inter-state. also the nearest exit was visable from the parking area. When I called, the clerk refused service unless I were to "GIVE THE ZIP CODE FOR THE REST AREA." after hanging up and recalling 3 times to make a connection with another service operator, I was able to recieve needed response.. THE RESPONDING TECK WAS EXCELLENT AND REPAIRS WERE DONE WITH IN A TIMELY FASHION.
Yes it is a pain in the behind to often we as consumers accept less than what we pay for..

I love the way the GS ERS members defend GS ERS, when the many poor or no service comments come up. It's always someone else's fault. I pay for road service, not lip service, that's why I have stuck with Coach Net. I can count the reports, here on this forum, of a problem with Coach Net on one hand.

Dealer left you stranded with dead batteries and you are mad at GSERS? Did you ask yourself how they moved your coach or even checked the fridge with dead batteries? or did they just jump it and move it and left it DOA. Coachnet has as many problems as GSERS. You will get idiots at either one that do not understand what equipment needs to be sent to help. I would direct your frustration at the dealer and ask why they left you with dead batteries.

Sorry to hear of your problem with GS ERS. Have you contacted customers service and related your problems with the service? Please do and relate their response.
We have no eperience with GS ERS but did change to Coach Net when we were left with a purchase order to get reinbursed by RV Road Help on two occasions. One was close to Tampa, FL and the second close to Jacksonville, FL (both areas with no provider?). We had a flat close to our small town and Coach Net had two providers. Makes us reccomend Coach Net.

maybe a little off topic, but I am able to jump (and have a couple of times) my diesel off of my toad (small car). Just let the car idle with the cables hooked up for a few minutes and then try, if it doesnt turn over, wait a little while longer. Mine fires right up after about five minutes of running the car.
