Seems to me this is a rather condescending thread.

I hope it doesn't turn condescending. Alas, it is a sad fact of our two countries that folks like these must live in this way, with little or no obvious way out of the conundrum (short of a fat wallet). It is also a sad fact that RV parks that accept these folks will also see more well-heeled RVs turn away. It's the same syndrome, I think, that we see in suburbia: Those who can afford it will stay away from the other side of the tracks.

Wow, it's so nice to see there are still folks in this world like you! What a great thing to say.

Dustytuu wrote: We are vacationing in "Deliverance" country. Very rural. Decent park where we are staying.
Little tiny one axle trailer came in here two days ago and are staying a month. (Got some of this from the park managment).
This trailer is about 16 feet and an older one. The people are two adults with 4 kids. The kids are home schooled. Kids are always clean and well fed. They must be homeless. Came with 2 cars and they left and brought back another one. Moved here from a neighboring town.
Sad situation. Kids are nice kids and well behaved.
Are we sure they are just not taking a vacation? I personally would love to take a month off and hang out with the family in a campground. If we did this, we probably would have a couple of vehicles around too.
Just a thought...

I guess you could say the same for my youngest daughter and her kids. Just moved them back from Boise as SIL's job change. No house so they are in my fiver for a while until they can find a house. Might be the same situation for them. Just because people are living in a RV park is no reason to surmise that they are homeless.

I think he is figuring that with that many people crammed into that small a trailer (My last trailer was 13 foot) they must be poor.
If it turns out they are.. And they happen to come by Detroit.. And they contact me.. I have parking for one additional RV here at the minimum Limited hook up possible (You lug water)

It would be hard not to notice that many people in a smaller trailer. Their story may be very different than any of those guessed at here. I am sure if you make friends with them you will learn more about who they are..... They may be having a hard time and then again they may be enjoying the time(s) of their lives.
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times" comes to mind... There were many days of hardship while I was growing up. Some of my best memories are during those times. There is something to be said for being content with what we had and not thinking that we needed more. Like many others, I never really knew we were poor, thanks to the love of my momma. Perhaps the children you describe feel the same way.

I bet they are a family that most would envy. Some will understand that statement; others will not.
You are on the right track, and yes I understand the statement. My parents were far from "rich", nor were they poor. I'm sure they struggled often, but we never went without food on the table nor clothes on our backs. I would have wanted it no other way.....

If the kids are clean, well fed and all appear happy, why do you think they're in need of your help? Just because they don't have a $100,000 trailer and tow vehicle doesn't mean they aren't happy. Be friendly and maybe you'll find out YOU'RE the one that needs something they may already have.
