Ha ha, good to know I am not the only one who gets annoyed with it! Luckily, I ordered a box of parts for an old bmw a few years ago and their was a gas cap in the box when I got it (brand new). I didn't know why it was in the box, the company didn't want it back and it didn't fit my bmw so I just threw it in my tool box... Well surprise, surprise, it fits my motorhome like it a glove! I guess karma knew I was gonna get screwed in Oregon...

Yes, you can not pump your own gas in New Jersey.

While in Oregon, I get out to unlock the door to the gas tank area, use the time to stretch the legs, wash the windows, kabbitz with the attendant. Since I have to lock the little door afterwards, I make sure the cap is on.

While RVing you need to enjoy the moments, even while watching the dollars fly by on the gas pump display.

Oregon will allow you to pump your own diesel, not all stations like it though.

One other thing about Oregon, they have no sales tax, so if you are there and are thinking of buying a high ticket item, you can save the tax. In California it is 8% sales tax in most areas. Just a thought.

I always listen for the clicking of the cap once they tighten it - if I don't hear it I get out and look myself. Haven't lost a cap in 30 years.

Plus, since it rains a ton here in the fall/winter/spring it's pretty nice not to have to get out in 48 degree wideways blowing rain to pump it myself.

When we moved back from Arizona it took a little getting used to but I actually have no problem with it now.

FYI The no pump yourself law does NOT apply to diesel.

So why the big thing with no pump yourself? I would want to watch and make sure some pump jockey does not put diesel in my gas rig. Never been to OR. or NJ. These the only 2 back ward statres?

Do they charge more if they pump it? Do you realy get full service? Like clean the windows and check the oil.

When I went to Oregon a few years ago I didn't know anything about the "you can't pump your own gas" law. I pulled up to the pump and some kid was there and he pumped the gas. When it was full I handed him my credit card but the computer wouldn't accept it because the amount was over the limit they would allow. By the time the whole thing got resolved the computer had crashed, had to be rebooted and they couldn't pump gas for about 10 minutes with the computer down. Fortunately the owner wasn't there and the kids were very polite. Next time I made sure the pumper knew in advance that I was paying by credit card.

I did that once, pulled in and started pumping my own gas and the guy came out screaming! I couldn't figure out what he was so p#ssed off about, thought I had run somebody over by the way he was yelling!
