The only time I can recall having any injector problems is when I completely babied my cummins. I did that for a few weeks when it was new and it started to tick. A relative that worked for cummins northwest told me to work it once in a while and get my foot in it (I had not towed with it yet) sure enough, a heavy foot up a nice grade and I never heard a peep again... It never did run bad, just made a little "tick"

It's just a money making scam, you were right to refuse to pay for it. Do the maintenance the owner's manual calls for, that's what's needed. 99.99% of all dealer "recommended" service is a scam.
At 30 K you should NOT need to have your injectors cleaned at all !!!! Motor is just getting broke in and he wants to clean the inj???? Tell him to pay for it himself! I've got 95K on my truck in sig (60+k on motor---another story) and she ate 3 during the winter of '06-'07, yet I've done nothing to the injection system. Buy fuel at same place or 2, change filters every 15K and add Howes Diesel treat during the winter. That's it.
Tell the service mgr to go blow smoke up someone elses skirt!

That is an amazing warranty. I'm embarassed that I was completely unaware, and glad that you guys clued me in!
I never let them do the injector service in the first place. I'm very glad I didn't. It did have some rough starts a while back, but adding Stanadyne fixed that instantly. Crappy diesel I guess?

The last time my truck was at the dealer was 3/31/05 the day I bought it, I would never allow them to touch it. If a problem arises that I am unable to repair, and I've been driving diesels since 82', I'll take it to a Cummins repair shop. I'm currently at 77,000 care free miles.

I finally broke down and replaced the original injectors in my Cummins at 570k miles. I was getting more smoke while pulling than I liked, and smoke is unburned fuel. The only time I use an additive is when I buy fuel in the south during the winter and know that I am going north. Fuel is blended according to the region, so I add an anti-gel. There are thousands of knowlegeable diesel mechanics at independent shops around the country. I suggest you find one if you don't want to do your own oil changes, etc. I also suggest you join a forum such as Turbo Diesel Register or Diesel Truck Resource for good info regarding Dodge/Cummins owners. A good place to start to find a good shop.
on edit. I re-looked at your sig. Check out theNorthwest Bombers. You might make a few new friends and, God forbid, get the bombing bug.
