We were just able to update the software and map for our Garmin 7200 FREE from the Garmin web site. We purchased the 7200 about 10 months ago.
garmin.com
Other than the download took about 7-8 hours and the transfer to the GPS about 2 hours, it worked pretty well.

"Free!" I just checked and they want $69.00 to update my Nuvi200. How lucky you were....

I'd check the update. I've updated mine, my uncle's and a good friends in just the past few weeks.

What addition of the map software are you referring to? IS it Map Source 2008? or something newer?

Garmin City Navigator NT 2009 is now out and selling. Amazon has it and I am sure others as well.

Garmin will give you the update free within the first year of purchasing the GPS.

We just bought the 2009 map update for our Garmin 7200 from Ace Photo and Digital for $51.56 plus 6.68 shipping.
