Hi,
I just decided that I want a 5th wheel. I have been shopping, and narrowed my search to two makers: Jayco and Wildcat. Which one is better? I also saw an used 2006 Cruiser from Cross Country with 2 slides for 24K, is it worth it? Is it worth buying an used 5th wheel over a brand new one in terms of warranty and etc... I am so lost...
The 2008 JAYCO EAGLE SUPERLITE 28.5 RKS is priced in the 34k, isnt it too much for an 2008?
IMHO I am biased because I have a Wildcat. I am sure you will have some Jayco owners and pipe in as well. When I was looking for a fiver this is what I came up with:
1. I was getting a slightly larger 5th wheel for the same $
2. I got 2 slideouts for the same $ that all other competitors were wanting for one slideout.
3. Wildcat seemed to have a lot more extras for the same $. (ie: CTS, Flat panel TV, Lights under the cabinet kickplates, Trailair equalaflex equilizer, ceiling fan, hydraulic landing gear, etc.)
Most importantly though, get the rv that works for your family and your budget! Don't get into too big of a hurry making your purchase or you may regret it later. Good luck and happy hunting.

Right now, used market is so soft that it really makes sense to buy used. That is if you can find one you like. New gives you a warranty, but used should already have the bugs out of it.

The new market is soft as well. I would think you should be able to get either Jayco or Wildcat new for between $25K and $30K, probably closer to the lower figure. The used 2006 Cruiser should be less than $20K or it's overpriced. I would look it up on NADA's site.
Be sure to check the "wholesale" high volume dealers to get an idea of the lowest price on a new coach. I know at least one deals with Jayco, and I believe there is one or more for Wildcat.
I have a Wildcat and love it.I bought mine used and I would suggest you do the same and take advantage of the buyers market. With all the used one's out there, chances are good that you will find one you like.Jayco's are good trailers, just be mindful that they had some recent issues of delamination in the floor.
We just bought a brand new, full size Jayco Eagle 325BHS (not a superlite), with lots of options including the double pane windows, extendable dinette, etc., and paid $26,600... We bought in Michigan. The superlites could have been had in the 23-24 range but we liked the full Eagle better and the little bit of extra weight wasnt an issue for us. Couldnt find anything close in the used market, so bought new, and we're very happy with the purchase. We looked a lot at the Wildcats and the Jayco's, we liked the Wildcat floorplan a bit better, but in the end after looking at both, what appeared to be shoddy construction and materials lost Wildcat a sale, the Jayco seemed to be put together and finished so much better.
If you go new with the Jayco, Jayco has a 40th anniversary thing going on now with 2008's that gives you the automatic, push button awning and flat screen TV at no additional cost, which we couldnt get on used, and wanted the power awning.
That 2008 JAYCO EAGLE SUPERLITE 28.5 RKS that you were quoted must be MSRP price.

I haven't looked at the Jayco 5er but, you sure lots of them out there. I really like the Wildcat and if it weren't for my wife wanting a Rockwood we would have a Wildcat.
We just bought a new 2008 Jayco 30.5 RLs light weight and paid $23,100 for the 5vr. It had a rough cost of $32k+. And with the 40th aniversary package included tv, elect awning, dream dinette table and the factory 2 yr warranty and the reputation of the Jayco for quality we couldn't go wrong.
