I am considering the RV Distant Network Service from Direct TV aswe travel in our triler over the next year. I have searched the DirecTV site and can't tell what programming is included in the package. Does it include just the NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox feeds? What about PBS? If anyone can tell me I would appreciate the information. Thanks!

Yep East/West coast feed NBC,CBS,ABC & Fox. Kind of nice during football season. You get the games played on both coast. If you miss a program on eatern feed time you can watch it later on the west coast feed.

And thanks to an FCC ruling, if you get the HD DNS, you can only get the single coast that you're closest to, not both as with SD programming.

Yes you can get PBS & CW as well in the DNS package, you have to request them and pay extra for them, but they are available.

My understanding is that when you get this package you lose your local channels. You can't have both the East / West feeds and local feeds.

Yes this is true for CW but not necessarily for PBS. I can not get PBS try as I may. It has to do with the local station for your billing address and they granting permission for the feed. I was unable to get this permission even though I am currently over 2000 miles from their broadcast area and do not expect to return. DTV has been unable to assist much.

FWIW -- we had SD (rig & stick-brick) with DNS for ABC, NBC & FOX.
Just upgraded to HD DVR package and retained the DNS for both coasts -- would have been a deal-breaker for us if we couldn't have keep it.
The only thing that they wouldn't do is add HD for the DNS networks so we have the local stations (which we didn't care about) now in HD.
Also, when we first got the DNS (over 6 years ago) CBS & PBS refused which is why we don't have those 2.
The cost per network is $2.99/month/network (both coasts).
At this point the only issues we face with DTV is that if we want local stations and are travelling we would need to call them and make a change each time (not worth it) and that they are moving around so much of their HD to diff sat's that using the auto dish (tracvision with HD) isn't worth it except for special events.

Revump. Yes you will loose your local stations. Most just copy the E/W feeds anyway.
