I just picked up an HD Radio on a clearance. Looks fairly easy to install. Anyone have an HD Radio? If you have one, how do you like it? Looks like quite a number of channels available on Florida's west coast. It is just another gadget I know, but with an I-Pod, Sirius radio, CD radio, CB, what's another techie thing!!! Next is a Scangauge ll and a tire pressure system like Pressure-Pro.

I have the HD Radio module with my Kenwood and I can definitely hear the difference. I have one jazz station that I get a lot of picket-fencing on while in analog but switch to digital and it is nice and clear. The local PBS station plays a lot of high quality orchestra pieces and they sound incredible. Very clear, a lot of dynamic range, the quite sections are well quiet I swear you can hear the flutist breath. It's kinda neat that you can have more than one digital channel from the same station. The local hip-hop station does that, one digital channel is the analog feed in digital and the other digital channel is another feed.
On the other hand... like all digital signals while error correction can make up for some signal loss, when it can't make up for the loss you get nothing out. Where as with analog you start to get static and noise but you still have something for you to hear, with digital it just suddenly st
With the Kenwood you can set it to automatic so if the digital signal gets lost it switches automatically to analog then back to digital when it's back. Unfortunately if you are right on the edge of digital reception it sits and hunts back and forth and there's a noticeable glitch as the two signals are not in sync by a fraction of a second either in the radio or in transmission. You will find digital reception is not as far as analog.
The Kenwood DNX7100 has a software bug in that the text data that comes along with the digital signal for stuff like song ID and artist name don't get displayed.
You should enjoy it. You get good quality sound and have already paid for everything.
