Alot of readers but no posters. Anyone know of a place to buy cabinets or plans to make them and just buy the doors?

I'd try calling Coachman for doors then hand them to a cabinet maker four the final product

To be blunt, your asking for trouble trying to add cabinets in a location that did not have them from the factory. The manufacturers put just enough framing into the units to support what they install and you will find no blocking to screw into. The 1/8" panel board will support maybe a stick on picture frame but not a cabinet. If your adament about adding cabinets, either floor mount them of considder opening up the wall to add blocking....

I added a tall cabinent in the bedroom of our rig. Had to notch the bottom a couple inches, put a bracing bar across the back and attached that into the metal studs with 2 inch screws. Bottom have is for "reserve stock" and the upper half is towels, linens and toiletries. If fact, 3 of my fellow Creekers have done the same mod to their rigs.

We haven't added cabinets, but we did have our entertainment area enlarged so we could have a bigger television. I realize this has nothing to do with your question, but I'm so happy with the new 32" flat screen, I just had to brag.

Watch out for head room clearance....when you stand up. I have noticed that prier to the drop down floors in the slide out there were very few overhead cabinets in the longer slides. It seems that with the drop down/level floors that the openings of the slide out were bigger, thus allowing more space above the top line of the windows for cabinets, In our "Sunny", raised floor, I have the out side storage access thats behind the sofa. Thus the couch is pushed out from the wall., that depth. But there isn't room above the windows. Why not check out the newer Coachman and compare, as well as copying measurements to see if they would apply. You will have trouble for the shop to matching stain.

I added cabinets to my last camper. I used a piece of 3/4" plywood to span the area over several studs. I used liquid nails to supplement the screws. Use double the screws you would in your house. I then added the cabinets over the plywood. Worked great, I traveled coast to coast without issue.

Thanks misfit, sounds like the way to go. Are regular cabinets too heavy or did you use RV cabinets? I was hoping to find cabinets at a RV scrapyard maybe. Not sure where to look for such a place. Dave
