LOL,,, you have been given a cookie form the Forum. It contains your in formation as to you screen name and pass word. As long as you don't log out, it will tell RV.Net who you are so when come back on line you won't have to log back in, it will know you. If you delete it or block it you will have to log in each time. It's not a tracking cookie. It's a good cookie. JM2Cents Bill
Norton deleted the tracking cookie but that act did not make me have to log in again when I returned. So this must be tracking cookie from someone else.
Just kidding. Tracking cookies (most cookies are) are used to measure website statistics - i.e. pages most visited, peak use times, browser version, screen resolution, etc. These metrics are used to improve the website that you are viewing. There is no way these can track you back to your computer or you since they do not contain any information about you.
More persistent cookies, like RVnet and any other website that you need to log into, can store your user name and password if you want. Your browser can also store this information for websites that do not use these (Password manager).
I periodically look at my cookies and delete ad tracking cookies. I just find them annoying. I think you will see that the tracking cookie RVnet sets is an ad tracking cookie. Doesn't really do anything to you but it helps RVnet justify ad rates to its advertisers.
Hope that clears up some questions about cookies.

If your worried about Cookies then you'd be terrified if you saw the rest of the breadcrumbs and information you leave kicking around just by simply surfing to a website.
In reality, it's all not worth worrying about, including Cookies. Tell Norton to stop being so picky and go about your day. Worry more about Virus' and spyware on your system (what really matters) then cookies and the such.
I have Firefox ask me before it allows a cookie on my machine, I then can determine whether or not I want it. I would never consider deleting all my cookies, what a pain in the a** that is (have done it when problems occurred). As pointed out above there are a lot of good, "labor-saving" info stored in those cookies, I would have to re-enter that stuff every time I went to various websites (yes password manager takes care of some of that stuff but not all). But that's my opinion, different strokes for different folks. My son-in-law is a computer/Internet guru and he always accepts all cookies and never deletes any--that's what a GOOD virus checker and firewall is for--he makes a very valid point--so I compromise--take some leave some.

It also lets you see which forums have new posts since your last login and which posts are new.
