We recently stayed overnight at a Cracker Barrel - first time ever, but suggested by rving friends. It was perfect with long rv parking sites and quiet - no parking lot sweepers like at a W.M. We were the only one in the lot though and I prefer if others are present, probably a false sense of security issue. I was wondering how many of you use C.B. as an easy, cheap overnight stop. We did ask permission and also had dinner there.

Cracker Barrel posts in this forum

posts in Boondocking with Cracker Barrel in them

I know CB gets a lot of press on here, but I find their parking lots small and their food mediocre. I won't go out of my way to stay in one.

Your not suppose to be posting that on net, you'll let out our trade secret. They close there doors after 9:00 at night, a great breakfast in the morning. Generally pretty quite during the night. Now look at what you have done, they'll be so packed. Good Luck and happy camping. Bill

We stopped at a CB 2 weeks ago for breakfast (in our car, not the 5er). They had about 8 long spaces clearly marked RV/BUS and every one of them had cars parked in them while there were plenty of car spaces empty. But even if they had all been empty, due to the layout of the parking lot, I don't think I could have gotten my 5er in to and out of the parking spaces and parking lot.

BB, we have found the same thing at most of the CBs we've seen. There are a few exceptions. However, after 9 PM, you can park any where, any way you choose I would think, as long as you are considerate of other RVers who might want to stop, too.

A lot of places that have long RV parking spots are taken up by single cars/trucks which are parked right in the middle, and the rest of the lot is almost empty....blind ignorance if you ask me, or just too lazy to walk another 50 feet, yet, do you ever notice the dirty looks or comments if we park our rigs in the main parking lot?
Just a thought.

Agree with this observation.

My rig is simply too large for most of the CB locations that I have seen. I got myself in too tight a spot for my comfort on a recent trip through TN. Many folks with cars and trucks will park in these spots too. Due to all of this, I will probably take a pass on these locations. I prefer most any truck stop over CB.

We've never stayed in a CB either, because our MH is 36ft and we tow a Crown Victoria and we don't fit. Most of the CB's we have stopped at have narrow entrance/exits or they are back off a narrow street.

For a smaller rig, they are probably perfect.

Safe travels,

I'll be able to answer this question better in a week. I've already called the CB in Cullman, AL about staying overnight on our way to Pensacola. The manager was very polite and accomodating, saying that he opens every morning and there are generally 3-4 RVs every morning. We'll have to open slides. Is that acceptable?
