Well.. I have a couple of assistants who's job it is to keep the mice out of the house,, Either house.. Amber and Alex,

For some reason, when you install CAT.. Mice tend to go elsewhere.

Don't understand why.. The cat purrs to the mouse "Oh Mousie, you have such good taste, how bout you come by for dinner"

The mouse hears "Oh mousie, you taste so good, we'd love to have you as the main course at dinner"

Must be a language barrier type of thing

Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business

Decon worked for me for a few years. I used to find Decon-colored droppings. I thought it was the answer, until I smelled a less-than-fresh rat in the trailer. I looked for that critter for hours over a number of weeks, but could never locate it. I suffered the smell for a couple of years. Every time I entered the trailer, I could sense that devil. Finally, the smell went away and I forgot about it.

Then, one day, when renovating, I found the skeleton of a six-inch rat. It seems that while in the Decon death throes, he had borrowed deeply into the insulation in a wall.

Well, no more Decon for me. I have cats now. They work good. And if they ever fall down on the job, out come the traps, checked frequently.

Thanks the replies. Bay leaves? I'll give that a try. Decon? Had one die in there already, not pretty. How long does peppermint and moth balls last? Dryer sheets worked like sheet for me. Does Rat-Away blow away? That battery powered trap sounds good too! Don't forget to go here and sign the petition:

(I don't know how many pages back this got to be - I had to search for my own posts to find it. I guess there's a lot of posting and little driving going on)

So last night I heard some scratching going on from the bedroom. It sounded like it was under the floor. I tromped heavily around on the floor and it stopped for the rest of the time I was awake.

This morning I went to the store(s) and got steel wool, traps (new plastic Victors - very easy to setup), cotton balls, Mint and Spearmint EXTRACT (I couldn't locate oil), and also got some Vicks Vaporub (smells like it should deter), three bars of Irish Spring bar soap, a box of dryer sheets (strongest smelling ones I could find), and a can of foam filler.

I have set two traps so far where I found the critters and nest (outside compartment). I also put steel wool around every thing that leads out of the inside spaces - around pipes, gas lines, wiring leadouts into the floor and walls, and placed some of the smelly stuff around on the inside areas of the coach where I don't want them coming in. I'm hoping to trap the ones scratching around first, then I'll load up every place with "Smelly" stuff in an effort to deter them from coming close to the coach again.

I'm all for trying anything to make the rig "STINK" to the mice. I even bought a bottle of ground Cayenne pepper which I plan to spread in some places, hoping they won't like that either.

In the almost two years I have been living in this thing, this is the first time I have had this problem. Another host at the campground I was at last month also had mice getting all the way inside their 5th wheel rig. I've been a little luckier than them.

Am I on the right track?

Well I don't want to jinks myself but 2 years ago I plugged into the electrical outlet a device called the Pesticator. It's not like those ultrasonic one's that you can hear click. This puts some sort of frequency back over the electrical line. I have had my MOHO for 8 years, 6 of those would have mice in it every spring. The last 2 years it has been mouse free. I originally bought it at Walgreens for $30 The local Meijers has them clearanced for $15. The real test will be the cabin up north if there gone there I will buy a couple more for back up.
