Well...lets start by elimination...
--excess weight would cause INSIDE tread rib wear
--a bent axle (they usually bend upwards) would also cause INSIDE rib wear.
--a loose or worn bearing (unless it is the inside bearing..rare!) would also cause INSIDE rib wear
--A loose or worn U bolt would allow the axle to rise and result in INSIDE rib wear
--loss of pressure would result in wear on the INNER and OUTER ribs
Soooooo.....about the only thing I see that might cause outside rib wear on a single wheel is the previously mentioned misalignment. That mount may be mounted a little forward causing that wheel to scrub (outside to inside) and take off the outer ribs of the tread. Just my analytical 2cts....Brian
I had excessive wear on the outside of my front passenger-side tire. Turned out it was a bent axle spindle. The shop told me that a bent axle spindle usually causes wear on the inside, so mine was an exception to the general rule.
