Well the camper is loaded and I'm off on the trip of my dreams early tomorrow morning. I have been planning this Alaskan trip for the past 4 years as a retirement present to myself. The best part of the trip is no time restraints. I can travel at an easier pace and come home whenever I get bored, if I come home I will post pics and update as I can. Anne & Joe maybe I'll catch up to you before I head north and we can chat.

dave,
best of luck with the trek north. i'll be great!! you'll catch the end of the sockeye run, the entire silver run, and rainbows the whole trip. watch out for all the moose!! btw, you were correct about the garden state parkway and heavy trucks!! at least officially!

Just a warning, Alaska is habit forming. We made 4 trips, last by TC (best way to go) and if the fuel madness quiets down, we will go again. Have a great time!

Take the top of the world highway. the alaska highway is nice but theres a chance you might not have any camper tiedown left at the end, its extreamly bumpy. (i did it and i had burns form tyring to drink hot coffie while driving) also if you need any repairs while youre up here theres alot of places to go to. to give you an idea of how bumpy it is when they bring rv's up here via 18 wheeler, the rv's themselves have dammage worth thousands of dollars. take the top of the world highway one way and the carfully take the alaska highway the other. (i was on it 3 years ago it may have been repaired but i dought that) When youre in south central alaska i live in a small town called girdwood about 40 miles south of anchorage which has alaska's largest ski area and if you want to camp there you can stay in the parking lot of the resorts lodge (costs a few bucks and has no hook-ups) have fun and if you got time go up the "highway" to the north slope, stick youre hand in the artic ocean or if youre really brave go for a dip.

Happy Camping
