First I want to apologize to everyone for dropping the ball on this thread. Seems as though before I left for my dream trip I was bitten by a tick, which the area I live in is loaded with. While up in Alaska I came down with Lyme disease and became quite ill and had to cut my trip short.I did get to visit many places but not all of what I wanted to see, so I am already planning my return to this wonerland.
On the way home I took the top of the world highway which I think if you are going to take this route is the smart way to do it, less traffic going out.

So as not to make this a long post I will post more pictures later. My trip took me 14,544 miles in about 2 months. I burned 1,108 gals. of diesel fuel for a cost of $5456 of which the highest prices being in Canada. To be continued.

This is a shot of Dawson City from up on Top of the World Highway as you come down the hill you approach the ferry to take you across the Yukon River in Dawson City.

Another view of the city

The ferry ride across the river

A block of color within the city

After leaving Dawson City I decided to travel the Cassier Highway for a different route home. The highway starts out at the northern end in rough shape lots of frost heaves and gravel repairs. The road is not very scenic to start and no wildlife to speak of until you reach the Skeena Mtns. in BC just before Stewart. From here on the scenery comes alive.

Dave, sorry to hear about your Lyme Disease but glad you got treated. It can be a real problem if left untreated. Hope yo see you in a month at the Fall rally.

Hope the meds for the tick bite are quickly getting you back in good shape and on the road. Not a good way to have to end a trip but glad you got medical care quickly.

You got a DVD of all your photos burned to show us at the fall rally. Elizabeth and/or Dick, you know if there is a DVD player in the rec room ? It would be fun to have a slide show going if we can get use of the equipment.

Thanks for posting more about your trip. Hope you are feeling better after the bout with lymes disease. I have heard that once you have it, you always have it. Hope you don't have any residules from it. Not wanting to scare you, but years ago there was a young detective on our police force that got Lymes disease & ended up paralyzed & in a nursing home that my uncle was in.

As you continue down Cassier Highway you come to the turn off for Stewart BC and Hyder AK. Not much to the towns but the scenery along the road in awesome. The road in is like a canyon running through the mtns.It was a sunny day when I stopped but as you will see the snow on the mtns creates it's own weather.

The road in:

Bear glacier

Rainbow at pond created by Bear glacier

One of the many waterfalls created by the melting snow

Small harbor between Stewart and Hyder

Hyder Ak visitor center

The Hyder post office
