The cheapest ones work the same as the most expensive ones. Only difference is some are made of aluminum and therefore a bit lighter. Pick whatever three legged one that you can get the best price on.

I just bought a 3 legged one and not one of the light ones - ultra fab I think for about $100 and change. It works fine. I tried a buddy's two legged one first and I thought it made things worse.
Good Luck and drive careful!

I like the two legged one better. It's easier to get two points level than to get three.

I have the three legged one and it works great, very stable. I guess that is why milking stools had three legs. Only issue I have is the weight, very heavy.

Three leg is a little more stable than the two. I don't agree that the cheaper ones ($70) are as good as the better ones ($110). You just have to look at the gauge of the metal and the manner of adjusment (chain only vs screw cap). Whichever you get (I like Ultra Fab) make sure it has the adjustable screw top. The regular metal one is quite heavy, and I don't want to slam anyone but product user reviews on the aluminum one showed too much handle breakage (pretty consistent) for my tastes....Brian

We have the 2 legged one. Never tried the 3 legged so can't say which one is better.

I used to have a two leg but just was not happy with it. Now have a 3 leg from BAL, Its heavy but does the job very well. Of the two kinds I looked at I went with BAL for the location of the tightening screw. I did not like the ones that tightened at the king pin.

I use a 3 legged Ultra Fab. Seems to make a big difference. At first, I wasn't very impressed with it. I was then showed that I had been setting it up wrong. You want to make sure that 2 of the legs are positioned to be towards the right and left side of the camper. Otherwise, It won't effectively work to take side to side sway out.

I like the milk stool reference.

In my view of this, there are 3 points to get aligned with a bipod (leg 1, leg 2 and kingpin), hence there's your 3 points in the same plane. With a tripod, you've got 4 points and they are not in a single plane.

Too each his own. I probably like the bipod better cause I want to justify where I spent my $100.
