I know my truck is worth a lot more than that. I was figuring High Teens. There are still those out there that need a truck like mine. They may be fewer and further between but they are still out there. Just like I am still here wanting another gas hog, or BURB. I am willing to take the plunge and take Burb off the dealers lot with the questions of fuel prices.
Something I forgot as I was leaving the dealers lot there was an 02 Ford Ext cab 4X4 with a gas engine and the price was over $19,000!

At that price they will bankrupt the entire world. Maybe that's what they want. Our economy is already in the tank because of the crude prices. Another 50 dollars a barrel and you will see a massive shutdown of our economy.

Have you noticed that when the price of crude oil goes up that is all you hear on the nightly news but when it starts going down like it has the last couple of days you barely hear anything about it. I think once we get thru November 08 the fuel prices will level out some. As far as the truck I would just put it for sale by owner and I am sure you will get at least NADA value for it.

BK the entire world??? some countries paying double than what we are for gas...I think many americans are going to cut out some of the "EXTRAS" they have come custom too...... I know I spend 100 month at local minit market on lotto tickets and sodas and such... Some people spend 200 a month on cable bills and high cell phone bills. the trips to mcdonalds and that.... things years ago we did without...
Who it will really hurt are those who dont have any luxuries in thier life and places to cut...

Now keep in mind the $300 Per Barrel may never come, but I would be willing to bet that we see $200 per barrel by the end of summer.
Don’t fool yourself in thinking that the Terrorist are just stupid thugs, they are far from that. They are highly educated and are well aware that it is much easier to hurt us by driving this Country into a depression then to try another attack on our soil right now. Stop and look at just who or what Countries control the oil supply at this time. Most all of them hate us and would love to see the USA go into a depression. Maybe its time for Canada to start tapping into the oil reserves they are sitting on. I just read this today
“Fortunately, the world's single-largest oil deposit sits right here in North America. Time magazine calls it "Canada's biggest buried treasure." It's an area with up to 2.5 trillion barrels of oil, locked in Alberta sand. That's eight times the total reserves of Saudi Arabia, enough to satisfy the world's demand for petroleum for the next century.
Wonder how long they are going to sit on it before they drill?

Two weeks ago, Congress refused to lift the moratorium on oil shale development in Colorado. The state of Alaska is suing the Feds. to allow drilling in ANWR. Meanwhile, Brazil — which recently made a major oil discovery almost in sight of Rio's beaches — announced that it has leased 80% of the world's deep-sea offshore oil rigs. Perhaps California and Florida would note that it is in sight of Brazils beaches.
If we could get the Feds out of the oil business and turn it over to developers and the states, we would better off.

They're not sitting on it. It takes a lot of money (and energy) to extract it and process it before it can be shipped to a refinery. Northern Alberta is booming as a result, with housing prices that look worse than LA's.
The Chinese are buying up diesel fuel to avoid burning coal prior to the Olympics. I'm wondering what the price of diesel will be in September when they start burning coal again. I don't think they can afford to keep buying imported fuel. Just my little speculation.

What the dealer said is correct, don't compare used prices of a 2006 vs. 2008. The first couple years depreciation is horrendous. You need to look at a 2005 BURB if you want to even remotly compare prices to your trade in or take advantage of the recent gas hog price drops. The dealer will still want $5,000+ profit to swing a deal trading used vehicles. Dealers do not trade vehicles, they buy low and sell high.
