I took all your advice and started looking at Craigs list and ebay for my illustrious toad. No luck so far.

So yesterday I was hankering for some more abuse and stopped into another dealership I found near the CG.

First clues after pulling in that 'should' have told me to move on.

1. All sales people wearing khaki shorts and loud Hawaiian shirts.
2. Not a one of them over 20.
3. I get the one that professes to know ALL about towing.
4. He insists that he look up in the manuals if they are towable 4 down.......
5. and THEN asks me: "how do you spell Recreational?"

I think tomorrow I will look for a car trailer,
and just drag my 10 ton Tahoe with me out west!

Go to a Saturn dealer - the ones we have dealt with have been well informed re towing requirements.

I've found that Craigslist is NOT a good source. Limited info & a limited number of pictures, plus no organization whatsoever. Almost impossible to 'shop' for exactly what you want. Try autotrader.com & I think you'll find it's a far cry from Craigslist. Good luck to you.

"4. He insists that he look up in the manuals if they are towable 4 down......."

I would suggest that this indicates that he is a sensible, intelligent individual. cares to tell you the truth, not just BS to make a sale.

I don't think your Tahoe on a trailer, will even be close to staying within the manufactures weight restriction for towing. Knowing the way some manufactures add stingy frame extensions to the rear and then put a receiver for towing on those extensions, scares me.

Let's see:
1. You did not like the clothes the sales people were wearing.
2. You did not like the age of the sales people.
3. You did not like the confidence level of your sales person.
4. You did not like the sales person researching an answer to your question.
5. You did not like the spelling skills of the sales person.

You seem to more of the problem than the solution, as you are critical of even minute details.

I've been looking high and low as well with no luck. I just searched Autotrader.com using key words "toad", "towable", and "RV", within 300 miles of my zipcode. Zero found...

Just go buy a 4X4 Jeep. Nearly ANY 4X4 Jeep. CJ, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Liberty, etc. The towing instructions are in the Owner's Manual for most models.

Well, let's see....
I posted a 5 point tongue in cheek description of an unqualified salesman representing a major dealership......

Here is a detailed account;

YUP! When the salesman starts telling me that ALL his cars can be towed 4 down, tells me I don't know what I am talking about and is in my face pushing cars at me that I KNOW can't be towed down or I clearly said I did not want. I can be critical of his business manners.

YUP, I think I 'can' be critical of whether a salesperson is qualified to be on dealers lot treating customers with respect and at LEAST have the common sense to listen to them when they know what they want to buy.

This character had none of these qualities, and acted half of his age.

After SHOWING him the manuals to 'prove him wrong', he then was jumping in every car before me to get to the manual like an idiot. AND reading the manual and then saying that that car COULD be towed 4 down and putting the manual back in the glove box, and high pressuring me to buy the car or the one next to it or the one next to that.

I went back in that vehicle and took the manual back out and it CLEARLY stated no four down. OUT AND OUT LIES to sell a car.

Telling me a 6,500 lb car was a 3,000 lb car.

The idiot didn't even know the weight is on the inside of the door,
had to show him that too when he INSISTED that a jeep cherokee weighed 2,000 lbs.

And sorry I DO have a problem with a person in a place of business that can not spell Recreational and has to ask the customer to spell it for him.

Oh yea, and did I mention that he 'ran' behind my truck on the way out of the dealership all the way out to the road...asking for my phone number?

YUP! YOU are darn right I WAS critical of this idiot.
