We are pretty new at this fifthwheel stuff, just moving there after owning a couple of Class A's. Yesterday I was backing into a site, from the drivers side, and noticed that the front axle of our '07 Open Road 35' has shifted toward the curb side of the tlr a couple of inches! Pull the thing into a straight line and it went back where it belonges. Scared the******outta me! Is this normal, or do we have major problems???

Yes, it is normal. The axles tend to bind and twist when making sharp turns.

Yes they will move. I got excited about my 2007 Quantum, because even when straight it was off just a little. I don't know if this was the problem or not, but Mor Ride had to do a rework, because there was so much flex it was breaking and then breaking the frame on the trailer. They had to put braces on the system, as well as space the tires further apart.
Had to order new parts from Roto Chock to make them fit. Pearl took great care of me.
I'll be glad to see how much flex I will now have.

It is a good idea to back up and pull ahead before unhooking so the axles won't have a bind because of the twisting you saw. chevman

The twisting you saw is also the reason to replace tires after 5 years regardless of wear. Belts that make up your tire will fatigue and separate due to side loads. Randy

It is not really the axles but the tires flexing side walls.
You should watch a 3 axle backing into a site. Or even turning a corner.
