the only reason to get the more expensive ones would be if you are allergic to latex.

None! last I remember the "stuff" flowed on the inside of the hose. unless your sloppy and careless the outside should stay clean and dry while dumping. Ive seen one person go so far as too use goggles along with the elbow length gloves.

I'm just glad to know I'm not the only "cretin" who doesn't use gloves....LOL!!

I have changed many a diaper - and feel that dumping our MH is a much more "sanitary" operation. I make sure the hose and connections are in good shape and don't leak; and wash my hands when I'm done. But I DO realize there's a few onlookers who figure I was raised in a barn....

Remember that latex allergies are developed with continued exposure to latex, some people having higher tolerance than others. Very few are born with a latex allergy. But, once you have developed a latex sensitivity you will be surprised to learn how many things you can't use anymore. I think it is better to limit unnecessary exposure to latex when it is easy to do so, by using cloth band-aids and nitrile gloves for example.

Harbor Freight, your local pharmacy, and a million other places sell nitrile gloves for about the same price as latex. At the hospital I work at we use nitrile for all housekeeping, maintenance, and for non-sterile nursing. Nitrile used to be hated because it was so thick and un-natural, but nitrile gloves have really evolved in recent years. So if you are going to use gloves, I would try and avoid latex where possible.

Thank you PatJ. My DW has a very severe latex allergy and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. That said, it is unlikely that you would develop a latex allergy by using latex gloves only when dumping your black tank. It is usually associated with medical care people who are putting gloves on and off all day long. I would still avoid latex gloves, nitrile are much better.

Last time I bought gloves was at Home Depot, I think it was on sale $8/500.

Only use one at a time...only attach the slinky with one hand...

Use Lysol with Bleach on the campground water faucet before connecting, then run it a sec to rinse, make sure all connects are tight...then turn on.

Thank you all for your opinions...seems like it doesnt matter which type of glove to use. I saw Harbor Freight had a 100 pack of the Nitrile for $6...and wasnt sure if they were any better than the latex/vinyl that i could pick up at HomeDepot for about $4...

Nitrile is more puncture resistant, resists some chemicals better and fits better than vinyl.
