Maybe you guys can help with this problem which my RV service center hasn't been able to fix. My fridg on propane goes off while driving. Almost without exception, when we stop and check, it is always off. Will not stay lit. Service guy put on a metal shield to help with the wind, but it still goes off. Latest service guy said he cleaned it out a bit and it seems to work fine. The service center never takes it for a drive to determine why it goes off. Any ideas or suggestions?

still sounds like the wind is blowing out the flame. Have your tried running a fan or hair dryer across the unit to simulate the wind ? Might have to tweak the piece of metal added to deflect the wind

Check the flame sensor to insure it is in the center of the flame. While moving it may blow to one end or side and then shutting down because the control board does see flame.
Another item to check is the connector on the circuit board. A small increase in resistance may do the same thing.

Check your thermocouple unit that is positioned in the flame. Does it have black cakey build up on it? Over time, carbon deposits build up on this and will insulate it from the flame, which prevents it from keeping proper temp. If yours is in questionable condition, the cooling effect of the air being funneled into your fridge compartment may be enough to kill the burner.

Try doing a search for this topic: tricks to keep frig on LP at highway speeds? There are several topics that address this problem as it is fairly common.

My first camper used to do that too. It was the wind getting into it. Test yours by duct taping off most of the vents in the door and take it for a drive. Do this only as a test though, to guide you in finding the cause of the problem. Don't keep the vents taped off permanently.

My second camper, the fridge never went off, even when driving on the highway in heavy cross winds on the refer side of the camper. The vents must have been placed differently in relation to the fridge, or the fridge had better wind shielding around the pilot. I was amazed at how much wind it could take without going out.

How about turning the propane off and using 12v? Makes for a safer drive and no flameouts.

Had two that did this consistently. Both had the refer on the driver's side. I don't think it is the wind, but the vaccuum created when an opposing vehicle goes by draws the pilot off. As has been mentioned make sure the thermocouple is well centered in the flame, and clear of any debris. My fix (same on both) was to put a solid metal sheet down the side where the burner assembly is (top to bottom of the opening and about 4-6 inches into the opening. I then used 1/8 inch hardware cloth over the rest of the opening as a baffle.

I'm sure that many are now shuddering about "covering the opening!", but I can tell you that it works, still have adequate ventilation, and the refers both cooled great with no more outages....Brian

I had the same problem in my 93 Elkhorn, with the fridge on the drivers side. Tried the metal shields with no luck, finally duct taped JUST the bottom row of vents on my outside cover, and have never had a problem again. Fridge still cools fine, no overheating, and no flameout.
