My Generac propane generator has always been a temperamental SOB but from time to time it would run for a while and then just shut off. Last night I fired it up after dewinterizing everything and it ran for about 4 minutes before shutting off again....then I started it back up and it ran for 2 minutes before shutting off....then 1 minute. Now it won't remain running for more than a 20 seconds or so before it shuts off. I have a new tank of propane & everything else works fine on the camper.
It is extremely difficult to see anything in such a confined space, but it appears the solenoid that turns on and lets the gas flow is shutting off. If I hold the inlet propane pipe I can feel the solenoid click off right before the engine dies. But I don't know if it is happening because it is messed up or if something else is messed up or there is some danger condition it is reacting to that I can't see. Unfortunately, I can only do limited diagnosis unless I take it out of the camper.....which is a full day's job with this Fox camper.
So, I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

I have had two problems similar to this. It sounds like it is shutting down after the delay period is up and the gen picks up the ac load. If I move the wiring around on the left side of the gen it will then be ok, probably a loose connection in the 12 pin plug on the cable to the invertor. Or the propane supply hose was kinked and causing the same type of problem. I rerouted the hose to fix that problem. I have a new cable ready to replace the one to the invertor when it finally fails. Try turning off the main breaker and see if it continues to run, if so it is that piece of junk 12 pin cable.
