I have an opportunity to trade my yamaha 2400 for a honda 2000 and some cash. I originally bought the yamaha when I had a TT with a 13.5btu ac. Now I have a 15btu AC and the extra size and weight of the yamaha does not seem worth it. Running an AC is not a huge deal and maybe down the road I could get a 2nd honda. What is the down side of the honda compared to the yamaha. I know the yamaha is 400 more watts but I am not sure it is worth the extra size. Any thoughts on the trade.

Im going to get rid of my 2400 also and go to the lighter honda for the same reason. I tired of lifting it in and out of the back of the truck.

Yamaha 2400: 70 lbs 1.6 gal = 8.6 hours at 1/4 load

Honda EU2000I 46.3 lbs 1.1 gal = 15 hours at 1/4 load

The Honda 2000 is one of the most fuel efficient, lightest, quietest units on the market as long as it will provide enough power to suit your needs. Running an A/C is not on the list of common uses for the Honda. It will do virtually everything else, including running the microwave. With fuel cost being what it is, this fuel efficiency will make a difference.

For us, we almost never use the A/C anyway and use our Honda primarily for recharging the batteries when we dry camp.. Along with an occasional use of the Blender...

If We ever get to where we need the A/C more often, we will buy a second Honda 2000 to pair up. That way we will not only be able to continue to use just one when that is all we need, but we will have a spare, just in case.

My DW says no generator, too expensive. But, if I was able to purchase one, I would opt for the Honda 2000 to run the microwave and charge the battery if necessary. If we need to run the A/C, we will plan on stopping at a campground that has electricity. Also, I can handle the weight of the Honda without too much problem, and it's small enough to fit in my TT storage area.

I too opted to buy a Honda 2000 over the Yamaha due to the fuel consumption and also...you can run your A/C if you are lucky. It isn't a big deal to me but it can be done if you are at the right altitude. Besides, if I need the Air on, I will use the eu3000 but it is too heavy to take on trips if it isn't needed.

I think my mind was made up before this post but now it is confirmed. Yamaha is nice but I did not even know the fuel consumtion difference.

I understand everyone's reasons to go with the 2000; but I'll be glad this weekend I have my Yamaha. Weather forecast for this weekend where we'll be competing at a sheepdog trial (dry camping) is calling for 95 with high humidity (and excessive heat watch).

But obviously the yamaha will run your AC. It won't run mine so the extra size is the issue for me. It would be nice if is would, then the size would be worth it. I might get a champion if they do the rebate for $199 just for the 1 time a year I may need the AC.

My point was running the A/C IS an issue for us and hence the different choice we would make.
