I bought my BRAND NEW 2008 F-250 6.4 PSD (my dream truck) at the end of February...One week later I bought a '91 Accord and that is now what I drive for 95% of my miles... (I wish there was a crying emoticon)
I actually like driving that car!! But I miss driving the nice new truck. At the rate I'm going I won't have to change my oil because of miles in 3 years!!!
Five more years and I will be able to purchase a brand new commuter car, and that may be powered by something other then gas or diesel.

I haven't fired up my truck in months. Ever since the weather got warm, I've been driving around soley on my motorcycle. Are there any dangers to parking a diesel truck for months on end? How long can I let the fuel sit in the tank without adding biocide?
The good news is that I have an RV trip planned next month, so I'll end up burning through all of the older fuel in the tank in about a day.

I'm with no_bytes on this one, bought my dream truck (2008 F-450 Lariet loaded) end of January and now it sits all purty in the garage. Bought a 08 Ford Focus for a daily driver and yes I'm definately saving money (even with payment, insuranse, fuel, etc. & still putting on about 8000 miles/yr on the F-450) as the Focus averages 33-35 mpg in mixed town/hwy driving. I guess the saving grace is that I should be able to have the truck 10 years from now because I won't be putting on 25,000+ miles on it a year now.

Yeah I parked my 06 2500 Dodge even though I can squeak out over 20 miles per galleon and ride my Husqvarna TE610 that I can squeak out 50 MPG with.
Motorcycle safety is a big deal but I choose to ride and have been riding for 40 years and practice safe riding technics.
Well trained expirenced riders have good safety records. Look at the miles a motorcycle cop puts on in a year and they have a very good safety record.

Truck does what it was bought for. Pulls the camper as needed, goes to the dump, and hauls stuff as needed. Never intended the truck to be a daily driver.
Commuter car gets 38 mpg, but is boring.
Motorcycle gets 46 mpg. Riding since I was 14 and never dropped a road bike! When not car pooling it is my daily ride. Going to get more miles now that I changed jobs.

Man...these are some interesting posts. I've been riding around on the bike today and will for the rest of the week. I really enjoy it. But I do miss driving my truck. It's probably the best truck I've ever owned.
Oh well. Winter will be here soon enough and I'll be complaining that I can't ride the bike. I'm such a dope.
Happy trails!!

Be careful out there. . . I fractured the big toe on my right foot exactly three days after I announced to an audience that I had never broken a bone.

Same here. Truck of my dreams. Sometimes I just go out and sit in it for the sake of it.
I've also parked my Jeep Wrangler. It has a 4.10 rear end and doesn't get much more than 10 MPG around town, maybe as much as 13 on the highway.

I put about 45k miles annually on the pickup for personal and work use, so have parked it, bought a little econobox, and just sob quietly to myself (except at the fuel pump where I click my heels with glee, 38mpg highway econobox)
