Just wanted to hear from any that have gone here and what they thought of the campground. I did a search in the campgrounds forum and found where people mentioned them in a post but didn't give an opinion. I have also looked at rvreviews.com and didn't find much that was current.
Thanks for any info anyone can give.
We went there last fall and loved it. It's a HUGE campground but one of the quietest we have ever been to. I think they had 3 pools.. maybe 4 and all were clean. They had activities for the kiddos.
The parking they offered at the beach was a HUGE plus.

jamesluke,
Preferred route to Holiday Trav-L Park would be via First Colonial Road which turns into Oceana BLVD once you cross Virginia Beach BLVD. Prior to General Booth BLVD you will pass the gate of NAS Oceana (on your right) and the the Navy Commissary (on your left). Continue on Oceana BLVD until Genral Booth (T-Intersection) and turn left onto General Booth BLVD. The Holiday Trav-L will on your left once you pass the KOA.
With all that said if you give me your approach to Va Beach (interstate or CBBT) I may have a different option. The above one is if you come in via I-264.
Much to do here. Golfing (4 great golf courses within 5 miles), Va Marine Sci Musuem, Waterpark, etc. Don't forgt Nauticus in Norfolk and not sure who what band will be at the amphitheater. Pass along your likes and dislikes and I can steer you in. Also don't forget a tour of NAS Oceana if you want to see your tax dollars at work. You will see/hear many F-18 Super Hornets flying over during your stay. I'm a former F-14 guy myself.
Holiday Trav-L has there own parking area at the beach and runs their own shuttle there also. Recommend using it. LEO are brutal on towing cars in the resort strip.

You must have visited during a particularly quiet weekend, the Navy jets fly all around this campground!
As for getting there, there is indeed construction going on at Birdneck Rd, but it isn't that bad, they will be opening up a new section real soon too. Sometimes they stop traffic because only one lane is open. I utilize Birdneck Rd almost daily, it's not that bad, plenty of RV's still using it.

The jets don't bother us... we have them flying over us everyday. I meant the people/noise around the campground was quiet. I was suprised about how quiet it was considering how many people were there.

Thank you all so much. I can't wait to go for sure now. It sounds like we will have a great time. I just thought of one more question though. How far away from the campground is the parking lot that they own and how far is that from the beach?
Thanks again....

Parking lot is on the left over the Rudee Inlet bridge about 1.5 miles I'd say. Beach is a about a block away. I would use their shuttle. Don't let the jet noise scare you off. You will get that just about anywhere in Tidewater.
I still stand by not utilizing Birdneck Rd. Today at the intersection of Birdneck and General Booth (one of the entrances to Holiday Trav-L)lot of road workers and equipment out. In my opinion still easier to go First Colonial to Oceana Blvd to Gerneral Booth. Four Lane the whole way.

VaNole thanks for the advice. When my husband checked on google maps he found the parking lot and it is as you said about 1.5 miles and about 2 blocks from the beach. Google maps is great!!! You can see everything. Also our GPS says to go the route that doesn't use birdneck and google says to use the other route. Guess we will follow you and the GPS to be safe. Thanks again for all of the advice.
