Hockymom, those back low-hanging steps are killers, trust me I know, had the same thing happen to us not once but twice. I think I'm going to come up with some sort of quick release for the back stairs so that I can take them off while traveling and put them on while camping. We go off the beaten path quite often.

Yea not just your 3612. I have found more problems the more i use my 08 3600RL.
I had a 2nd A/C added, they had to cut/square part of the a/c vent in bedroom to fit.You can't run both becuase the could air blows on control for main one and shuts it down.It would have been SMART to put it in living room on sidewall behind steps instead of in hallway by bathroom!!!!
They sure get big bucks for these toy haulers but make them the cheapest & fastest way they can. They must have a non-rver planning these.Only after alot of people have the same problems do they change something but never admit there was a problem.Just one instance now they put 6000lbs ax. & 16"tires on now instead of the 5300lbs & 15" tires they allways had with tires blowning.I could never figure out spending $650000 on New unit and having to buy 7 new tires when you drive it off the lot..I have a 08 with 15" with no problem,Yet!!! must be the next one after mine they changed to 16"

Wow, I consider myself lucky in the fact I've had no problems in the 10 months I've lived in my 08 3712. I bought it in Vegas so definitely needed two ac units. The 2nd ac I have is a Dometic Duo-Therm and that being said, yes it does shoot right into the thermostat. But, the Dometic has louvers that can be aimed or if you roll it far enough, will blank off the outlet pointing at the main thermostat. Yea, I scratched me noggin over that one but it does help alot. I've even pulled the curtain to help this out. Hope this helps y'all out.

We cant use the door now i think its because its crooked did that happen to you? We decided to use our portable stair we got at camping world for 40 bucks and its lighter too! Thats our quick connect solution.

Oh FYI on the 3612 models not sure if they have fixed this yet but watch those back steps they hang down so low we caught something going on an "off road" lol almost ripped them off and now the siding is all crinkled and the out door box got ripped off too fixed that and just took the stairs off but now the door wont open we think its off square now but need to get it in for service ...

I have an 08 and I wondered why the stairs in the back are different (they have shorter risers). I just thought that someone put the wrong stairs on.

Well it looks like they are consistent in how they cut out the ceiling for things. I think the same worker that cut out your junction box for your second AC wiring also cut out the vent for the loft bed in mine.

Of course they didn't bother getting out all the sawdust before installing the vent so every trip it dumps sawdust all over the bed! I've vacumed it several times and it still keeps coming out....

Glad they fixed that it ruined my siding we pulled it out as best we could but the box now sits funny and the door is stuck I think BAD design idea! Just like the HUGE gap in the bedroom door

Just think, after you have been around RV's for a while you will get sort of used to taking care of things. First, remove that round air vent and cut off the edge to clear the 2nd AC. Simple fix, nothing to get heartburn about.

Put the covers back on and you will never know that the openings are messy. Ours just hangs there also and has never fallen or looked like it was falling. Again, nothing to stress about.

We learned the curtain/vent trick after we installed the 2nd AC also, no biggie.

Hubby also put in that second circuit breaker for the second AC. That was poor design, but an easy fix.

If you want higher quality, you need to buy a higher dollar coach, not that paying double or triple the price will really guarantee anything. Nothing in the RV world will live up to the quality we want, not for the money we are willing to pay, it's all compromise.

We have been RV owners since 84 and and bought our 05 Raptor new and towed it lots and lots of miles enjoying it throughly. We knew we were not buying anything near top of the line, but it's what we wanted to suit our needs at the time.

To put things in perspective, both of our RVs (yes, even the truck camper), both trucks and the boat individually cost more than our first house which was 5br 2 1/2 baths in Colorado Springs, come to think of it, we have more invested in upgrades, and ad-ons in everything than we bought this cottage in AR for!!!

You may note that even folks with quarter million DPs complain about some of the same types of quality control issues, I prefer to enjoy a beverage of choice in the Outback Room of my Raptor.

Don't sweat the small stuff. Makes life so much better. Get out and enjoy that rig!

Hey Hockymom, didn't do anything to the door so I'm lucky there. What portable stairs do you use because we do alot of "off the beaten path" camping and I know this is going to happen again?

To the OP, I've fixed so many things myself because it's much easier have'n it done right the first time instead of taking the Raptor back & forth to the dealer. Every RV mfg out there has quality control issues, some of my family that own $100,000.00+ units and they have issues to, it's just not the low end or middle, it's all of them.
