The "demand" in () means if the request does not work to (demand). Sorry that you did not get that little item. Reality is reality and nothing will change the fact that sometimes after your request does not bear fruit that it will be necessary to demand that the correct course of action be taken. I did say "sometimes", so cut me a little slack, Thanks

We have owned a used 2001 Pleasure Way Excel for 3 traveling seasons (22,000 miles to far). Experience with ANY and ALL purchases today, you have a point about workmanship. But...our experience - It was only in the first months of ownership of our B that we needed to replace a few items. We had courtious helpful service from PW. Since we own a 7 year old vehicle, we expected more rattles and stuff but after 7 years and 53,000 miles everything still works great and we think it was built well. We are almost retired and can not wait to really travel if the gas holds out!
I have owned several rvs, new and used, over the last 25 years. Without exception, I went through every one of these units and fixed a lot of small problems. A little glue here, a little bolt there, a little caulking, a little finish touch up. I just consider it part of the process of owning a house on wheels. Some of these things can be a little aggravating, but I am NOT going to let some minor detail rob me of the fun, pleasure, and sheer joy of owning a motorhome.
I think RT, by way of example, would be well served to put in better latches. I have replaced most of the interior cabinet latches on our 2007 210P with 69 centers from Walmart that are far superior. And there is no question in my mind that the overall "fit" and quality of my 96 RT was slightly superior to that on my 2007 model. But my 2007 is a much better overall unit and drives much, much better. It is much better designed and more "user friendly".
If you think the Class Bs have a lot of issues, buy an A or C and get ready for discoveries that rival going on safari to the unexplored regions of the Dark Continent.
I've been kinda watching - the thread title needs to be changed to reflect the Quality (or lack thereof) issues in ALL RV's.
I've owned motorhomes since the mid 70's, always had at least one, and sometime as many as 3 in the stable at any time. They were all largely built by, individuals making minimum wage, supervised and by folks being paid as little as possible, by companies that have as their goal making the largest profit margin possible. There is nothing wrong with this, it is the Capitalist way. The way arond this is to buy a vehicle with as high of quality as possible, then do the conversion yourself, as a few of our member friends have done, you'll still be prisoner of using many standard components, but MAYBE you can put them together better.
The only reason 'B's" are any better than "A's" or "C's" it that the VAN is built by vehicle manufacturer, with processes and machines to do so more efficiently than an RV manufacturer.
Warren Buffett, when asked why they made such CR_P,I believe, said something - like we will make it that way as long as you keep buying it...

I think that may be a highly generalized statement that holds little water. Most RVs are built in plants located in small communities with a lot of pride. They support the community and the community supports them. They make more than minimum wage and the workers are skilled at what they do. I would also venture to say most of the B manufacturers can do a far superior job than most do-it-yourselfers from what I have seen.

don't get us wrong, we still love the freedom/options offered by our rt or any b. but when the unit is out of commission and in the shop for something, that in hindsight could have been better built/design, etc...it can be quite aggravating and frustrating, more so because of my time than it being a money issue, which is secondary.
i have looked at the pw when contemplating my next unit, but i see the same thing, which feeds this crazy notion of building one myself... but there is the time factor, i'd rather be out with the 'b' than slaving over the van to build a 'b' myself, which i no doubt believe will have better components, parts, built quality than what comes off the assembly line....
i guess bottom line, as all things in life, there is a trade off
i would like for the 'b' dealer/manufacturer to offer you a 'b loaner' each and everytime its in the shop for warranty repairs, than i would not be so upset everytime the unit ends up in the shop, no doubt less frustrating but frustrating nonetheless
