In my Coleman Popup I have a Atwood 7900/8000 II gas furnace. Just returned from a trip and the fan is making noise . . . a squealing type noise that sometimes gets quieter either with running for a while or maybe as the trailer gets warmer. As a result of this I didn't use it as much as I would have liked as it would wake me up or in a couple of campgrounds I didn't want to disturb the close neighbors.

Is this something I can fix myself or is it something that I will have to take to a RV fix-it place or dealer? Anybody ever had a similar problem?

I ordered and replaced the fan motor myself. If you have general mechanical ability you should be able to replace it yourself. I'd go on Atwood's page and get a manual on the unit before starting. Good luck!

I replaced my fan and motor myself and it was a pretty easy job. My major piece of advice is to disconnect the battery first. I overlooked that and touched the wires to the body of my camper while removing the fan. Now I know how much controller boards cost!

In all seriousness, the motor replacement is easy.

Mine was doing the same thing. I removed the unit and pulled the fan motor out. I hosed the bearings down with WD-40 and the sqeak went away. I know this is only temporay but its cheaper than a $120 motor.
