There 8 RV service centers in the Rapid City phone book. Try Mid-States 866-531-6883. Northern Hills Homes & RV 800-622-4579. High Plains Trailer sales 888-845-8525. I don't know anything about any of them. I doubt that you will find a machine shop that will rebuild the ram in a timley fashion. Oil well business comes first and pays more. Good luck
Call the factory and ask the to ship part.
First off, this is the first chance to get back to the net for a while, and I am very happy to see the replies - THANKS!
I am heading down the rebuild path as I have lots of tools in the truck's box, and have encountered a most unusual CG owner who not only has hydraulic know-how, but was very willing to share it and help me.
You gotta hear this! I went to remove the nuts from the end of the piston staft, and they were 1 5/8". Nowhere in Custer, SD can you buy an open end wrench of that size (no, a socket wouldn't work, I thought of that). So, upon hearing this, the CG owner (Max at Beaver Lake CG in Custer) whips out his torch and some scrap steel and MAKES me a wrench. A little fashioning with a grinder and I've got one cool tool!
With this "field" wrench, I got the piston out of the camper today. The CG owner opened it up for me (cause I sure didn't know how it worked). The previous poster is right - once open, its just a seal and some O-rings. My seals are 100% disintegrated. There isn't anyone here in Custer, SD that can provide seals, so we are moving on to Devil's Tower tomorrow (Sat eve) and then to Cody, WY.
I will be looking for places in and around the Yellowstone area to rebuild these pistons. ANY LEADS ON WHERE TO GET THIS DONE IS VERY APPRECIATED.
If you are going to the Black Hills, you CAN'T BEAT Beaver Lake CG. Quiet, water slide for the kiddies, and super clean.
