I just saw a news report regarding the tendency of some of the sleep number beds to have a hidden mold problem. It is because of the vynal mattress under the foam one. If any moisture gets trapped in between, mold can form. If you have one and want to check, lift up the foam topper and inspect the underside of it as well as the top of the Vynal part.
There is talk of health problems and a class action suit.. (of course)

goog info, but i have one and I'm confuse on which part is the vynal .I don't see it or have one. unless someone is buying a vynal aftermarket one. Mine has a platform plastic with a cover on it . then the air matteress and then the memory form mattress on top of that..are you regarding to the platform?

From what I saw, mold was forming under the foam mattress. Under it was what appeared to be a plastic top of an air compartment. It had to do with moisture trapped between the plastic and the foam.
I don't own one, but I know that many on this forum do, as well as some RVs being equipped with them.
Vinyl... I stand corrected..

I have 3 sleep # beds. The older 2 have had the mold problem, the third is a newer design and I was told it should not have a problem. When I contacted the manufacturer I was Immediately sent all new parts to fix the problem. The oldest bed I've had for 15 years the other one was ten years old. The company was very easy to work with sent new parts no questions and told me they should mold.

Yes, everyone is finding the mold, and the reason for their malaise and allergies.
Unzip the top part, the middle layer foam and cloth are moldy from body moisture.
Class action lawsuit in the works, but the will give you another one for free.

We have a sleep number bed that we have had about 10 years in our house and I checked it yesterday and found no mold. As a matter of fact, everything inside looked brand new.

We've had ours for 5 years and a check yesterday showed NO mold. So everyone is not experiencing this problem.
