I recently purchased a 40amp digital charge controller, its in line between starting batt and aux bank. Could anyone here please tell me if i should/can ground the aux bank to it and it to the frame, or both to the frame separately??? My plan was to ground a few things to the controller and then the controller to the frame of the van but now im not so sure. Thanks in advance for any info....

Thats one thing about DC. Ground is ground. All of the vehicles grounds should go to the same place.

Well im pretty much confused, i know this is really a judgment kind of thing but i have been told that grounding the whole aux circuit to the frame would be sufficient, but either way can i use the charge controller as a common ground???

I'd not use a device as a ground connection, go right to ground with all the connections, just in case. They can all go to one spot and that could be a good thing for future diagnostics.

I too agree with the "Ground everything to the frame" suggestion In the case of the battery and the charge controller you may be able to use the same bolt for both grounds

Its a ProMariner 40amp Digital Batt to Batt Mobile charge controller The instructions are not very clear and designed for a mrine application which grounds everything to the prop shaft (i think). Either way, there is not much in the way of description but there is a picture that shows the controller going from its "common ground" to a ground buss where it meets up with aux batt ground and starting batt ground and then goes back to engine. But again im pretty sure this is a design for a marine application which is why its showing everything going back to the engine and not a standard frame like most vehicles use. TOday im going to try and fine where everything else in my rig is grounded and go from there i guess, im hoping its grounded to the a piece of frame that connects to where my aux bank is, then hopefully there will be no issues, but keep the opinions rolling, and thanks a lot!

It's hard to tell without seeing the installation instructions, but off the top of my head I would ground everything to the frame.
