Since we cannot afford to drive very far in our Class A, I would like to find some nice campgrounds in Ohio. We are near Columbus. We have not been camping long and have only been to a few places. I am sure I am overlooking some nice campgrounds throughout the state so send me any suggestions. Thanks for your help.

If it's listed in the Yellow Pages, the government shouldn't be messing around with it.

do you have kids and what do like to do? i agree with all these. we stay at east harbor state park when we go to cedar point, but you have to drive a half hour or so to get to CP. let me know what you like to do,or if your need full hookup most sites in state parks only have electric. then we can give you more ideas.

O-H-I-O Go Bucks!
We have camped in many of the state parks in Ohio. They all have their pros and cons. When we started camping a number of years ago, we would just visit ones we hadn't yet been to for a weekend. We have not returned to those we didn't care for; others we have visited again. You can explore the surrounding area while you are there.
You can do some research on the parks online to see what looks interesting. Here is a link to the map of Ohio with the state parks identified. Clicking on the park will give you lots of info about it, as well as local area attractions.

I never thought I'd recommend a KOA, but here is one close to you that is spotless and has nice, large sites. It's by far the nicest, neatest, cleanest KOA we've ever stayed at. I don't know what there is to do in the area, but I'll bet the owners can tell you.

So far we've only been to 2 Ohio SPs but both were quite nice. Barkcamp SP (near the WV border, off I-70) is pleasant, as is Geneva SP n.e. of Cleveland.

We were in the Hocking Hills area last summer, and it was a very enjoyable trip. The campground was fairly nice....as long as you have your own bathroom/shower. Alum Creek is very nice if you want to enjoy the water....great if you kayak or canoe or take along a small boat. Delaware is also a nice park. I suggest you go on the Ohio state campground web site and see which parks are located near or have attractions that you are interested in. Some folks are happy just to relax and enjoy the quiet, and others want to get up an go, go, go..........so it's always hard to make a recommendation without knowing what someone likes to do.
and....Punderson State Park is on a nice lake. It's also close enough to Cleveland if you want to take in attractions there.

This was recommended to me by a business friend and fellow RV'er. They go somewhere every other weekend and really like this place. Said it is really nice and Super Sites are Really nice. Little too expensive for my taste, but if you have kids lots of activities right there for them and he said a nice park.
Buckeye Lake
Also someone referenced this place couple of weeks ago in the Hocking Hills/Logan area. I think we are going to try it in the Fall.

Guilford lake near Lisbon is a small quiet place. You can camp right on the banks of the lake.
