I know we did this last year, and I am curious what the prices are around the nation.
I just filled our 2 30# tanks today. I was surprised how empty they were, used a lot of LPG with the cold weather on Memorial Day!

You'll see amazing fluctuations in propane prices, far more so than in gasoline prices. A good part of this is due to the nature of the business where you fill, and to the fact that a license is required to fill propane cylinders. Here are a couple of generalizations (meaning that there are also plenty of exceptions):
*If the business does a great deal of bulk sales (at least 500 gallons at a time), then their employee cost per gallon filled is minimal; if they're nice enough to offer the bulk rate to you, then you'll often get a pretty good price. (Sometimes service is harder, though, because the fillers may be out in the field filling large tanks.)
*If they primarily fill small cylinders, then their employee costs per gallon filled is signficant, and the price will be higher. Service may be more available.
