Anyone know if overnight stays are permitted in the Walmart or anywhere else in Cranbrook? We will be stopping in town to pick up fuel, food, and what not late one evening and leaving the next as early as I can get everyone up and on the road. we usually would stay at the family property but its backtracking almost an hour and would rather stay in town.

I ask that you dont stay at the Husky in Cranbrook. There is only about 6 parking stalls there for the trucks. If you park in the mall right behind the Husky close to the Husky property line, I dont think you will have any trouble. I have seen other overnighters do that there.

We visited our son in Cranbrook last year and being campers ourselves, took note of the TTs stacking up in W-M parking lot in the evening. Unless they've put up a sign effective this camping season, I'd say it's do-able. Otherwise, there are two campgrounds called Fort Steele only minutes north of town. One is just across the bridge and the other is opposite Fort Steele itself.

Thanks guys... we are already staying at one of the Fort Steel campgrounds for 3 nights but are heading up and around and stopping in Kimberly for the day before cruising along. I am trying to be very aware of our route to minimalize fuel consumption. We do spend a lot of time in that area but have never had to stop with the trailer on since we are only 45 minutes on the other side of where we usually stop. I would rather pay for overnighting though somewhere instead of backtracking 45 minutes though.
Dave, as I am a professional drivers wife, I am very aware that there are some truck stops that are not set up for tourists including that Husky which is tiny. We've stopped there in the rig before.
I think I will continue with this plan for stopping at Walmart to get our supplies and continue on in the morning Thanks!

Right, sorry, I forgot about that. And I noticed that the WM in Vernon now has a 'No Camping/Overnighting' sign up at the enterances.

I stayed at the walmart in Cranbrook last September. Many other RV's as well that night. Only problem i had was the employees seemed to have their own get together after the store closed, sounded like a full out dance party for an hour or so. Then the local garbage or recycling crew came out at 4 am to empty all the bins and i think they did their best to make as much noise as possible over an hour. lol
I normally stay at campgrounds, and that was the first time i stopped at a walmart. Only because i got there about 11 pm, and couldn't find a campground on way in from the east side. Was supposed to get all the way to Trail, BC, but had some setbacks that day. Should have stopped in Alberta somewhere. Not saying i wouldn't do it again, but wasn't a very restful night.

Overnighted there last Oct. before Thanksgiving. It was fine except for the late start the next day because of the 2 hours DW spent shopping in the mall There is a large Superstore for groceries so it is quite convenient.

That's called a trade-off.
