Hey everyone out there! We are currently on the road and we are planning on driving further than first expected today. We would like to stay somewhere close to the beach in or around Pensacola, FL.
We've looked at the KOA in Milton, FL. Has anyone been there and know how far away from the ocean it is?
My son wants to see the ocean today or tomorrow. We are headed to Topsail after Fort Wilderness, but he wants to see it now. He keeps looking at the map and knows we are close. Any help would much appreciated. Thanks, QT2

We are now close to Gulf Port, MS. I'm hoping someone replies soon. If not, I think we'll try the KOA in Milton, FL. Thanks, QT2

You will be more likely to get a response if you include the words Pensacola, FL in your subject line.

Big Lagoon State Park is in Pensacola and is close to the Gulf of Mexico (about 5 minutes). The KOA in Milton is nice, but not very close to the Gulf.

There are many State Parks on the gulf in the panhandle but I am not as familiar with Pensacola as places further east.

Wish we had more notice, and knew what road you're traveling on. If you're on I-10 stop at the FL welcome station for info on the State Parks. (Note: Blackwater River in Milton is closed for renovations.) It you get off at the exit that says To NAS and the fairgrounds, there are signs to Big Lagoon but it's about 20+ miles. If you come through Foley and Gulf Shores there is Gulf State Park in AL, keep coming West and you can get to Big Lagoon after you get into FL. If you go through Gulf Breeze there are several private CG's right on the water near Navarre. I hope you've found something by now! If so, welcome to our beautiful paradise!

I hope you see the gulf before you reach the Tallahassee area. Once you go East of there, you can't get to the ocean easily. Definitely go the the gulf before getting too far east.

Any chance you're active duty, retired military or currently member of reserves or National Guard? If so look at
www.militarycampgrounds.us
Check out Oak Grove and several others in that area.
Good luck.
