I would like some input from you guys regarding Hydraulic vs Electric Slides. I hope this doesn't turn into a gas vs diesel argument. I have heard some pros and cons from the sales people depending on the unit they are selling. What have your experiences been?

I have had both and they both work. It's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

Have worked on both...replaced parts on both. Good design, i.e. smooth operation is much more important than how it gets done. Neither would be a deal breaker for me. I do think that a manual operation option is a plus, however with 18" slides, I don't see either pushing in a hyd or hand racheting an electric as much of an option.

Some of hte electric slide systems allow you to open and close any slide or all slides in any order. They hydralic slides open and close in a preset order and you usually have to go outside to the hydralic unit to turn off slides if you don't want them to open. This all comes at a price. Hydralic slides run off of a single hydralic pump. Electric slides require an entire slide mechinism for each slide. We have hydralics and are very pleased with them.

Find the 5er that is right for you and don't worry about the slides. If the overall quality is there the slides will be ok also.

I've had both, no issues with either. As stated, get the 5er you want
and however the slides are powered, you'll be fine.

The Bus has both and they work fine. A bit different, but results are the same.

I have had both and prefer the hydraulic slides. The electrical slides operated much slower than the hydraulic and they can be a pain to adjust. I suppose that the hydraulic system could be difficult to adjust also, but I have no experience with that. As far as selecting which slide to extend (or retract): some hydraulic systems allow you to select which slide to move via switches in the living area.
