Why are there locking tabs on this? Travel in the rain? Just curious. I'll never remember to unlock/relock these untill it's too late. Too much little stuff to remember. Yeesh.

Going down the road will make them disappear into "never-never land" never to be seen/found again. Just put a magnetic reminder on the hood to open when parked and close when leaving or put it on your "check lise".

Only time I lock my flapper is when we put it in storage for the winter. I then unlock it in the spring after it's bath. Never had a problem with it going down the highway flapping.

I usually glue a magnet to the base and a washer to the flap- this holds them closed until the fan comes on.

Sometimes they flop in the wind and make noise so it's nice to be able to latch it shut.

I never had a problem with mine flapping either. Only had a problem when it went missing.

mine doesn't always close tight...makes it easy for flies to get in if I don't latch it.

We keep our latched to keep the critters out. It only takes a few seconds to unlatch it.
