I tried searching, but I`de like up to date responses. what sections are nice in Fort Wilderness. my wife just booked us today so I don`t know what section we are in, but I`de like to know so I can see if we can request a section. we`ll be there for 5 days total. the last day (wed.) will be in the campground to relax for the drive home. maybe go to Downtown Disney for a half day?

If you tell them what you're looking for, the operator will typically give you the best sites available. I told them I had a little dog, and that we wanted to be on the water side so we could take the ferry over as much as possible, and they put me in the right place (as far as I know, it'll be sept before we go.)

On my way home from work my wife called back to see if she could ask for a specific site and they said no. did she get ahold of a reservation co.? the number she used was 407-939-6244. what is the # to Fort Wilderness itself? or is that it?
After discovering that the people on the site next to us had lights all over the place and left them on all night, we inquired whether we could move to an unoccupied site in a darker area for the remainder of our stay. The response, delivered cheerfully in about 10 seconds: "Your wish has been granted." Perfect Disney answer.
SO, keep that in mind: if you don't like your initial site, don't be shy about asking for a different one.
We rode our bikes all over Ft. Wilderness last January and couldn't find a bad area. Some areas are closer to the shuttle boat that goes to the Kingdom's and some are closer to the Hoop de do review theatre but I think it is the gold standard for RV parks. Not perfect but close.

You don't state what "type" of site (level of service) you booked. In November it could be one of four:
Standard (partial hook up), which includes electric and water
Full Hook Up, which includes electric, water and sewer
Preferred, which includes electric, water, sewer and cable TV
Premium, which includes electric, water, sewer and cable TV on a longer/wider cement pad.
Premium is a new level and is being added by converting current sites. The premium sites will feature expanded parking area offers and better maneuverability for the larger RVs of today that exceed 45 feet in length and/or have multiple slide outs. They will be wider (up to 24 ft), and deeper (up to 60 ft). They will also feature new upgraded picnic tables and grills and new landscaping to allow more privacy and better appearance. All sites will include cable and offer high-speed Internet access for an addition daily fee.
The exact size and shape of each campsite will depend on Mother Nature. While all the campsites in this new category will be enhanced, the final dimensions will be based on the limitations of the natural surroundings. Pull-through sites will not be added, but the new sites are much deeper. This will allow across-the-street neighbors to pull all the way back allowing you more room to turn. The entrance of each site will be much wider and easier to back into.
As the sites are converted, pet loops will be re-designated as Loops: 500, 700, 800, 900, 1200 and 1300.
The conversion schedule is as follows:
(Schedule subject to change without notice)
Loop 900 – closed 7/08 to 7/25 – reopens 7/26/08.
Loop 1000 – closed 7/27 to 8/08 – reopens 8/09/08.
Loop 1100 – closed 8/10 to 8/22 – reopens 8/23/08.
Loop 500 – closed 8/24 to 9/21 – reopens 9/22/08.
Loop 800 – closed 9/22 to 11/01 – reopens 11/02/08.
Loop 400 – closed 11/03 to 11/21 – reopens 11/22/08.
Loop 600 – closed 11/30 to 12/19 – reopens 12/20/08.
Loop 1300 – closed 1/4 to 1/23 – reopens 1/24/09.
Loop 1200 – closed 1/25 to 2/06 – reopens 2/07/09.
Loop 1400 – closed 2/08 to 2/13 – reopens 2/14/09.
Loop 700 – closed 3/15 to 4/03 – reopens 4/04/09.
The 1500/2000 loop (partial hook up) will not be closed to add cable TV.

We just returned from the fort and we were at the 600 loop with was very nice but It was our 2nd chance since the park is very tight and could not get in the first sight too tight.
We are on the way there right now. We arrive @ 1p.m. Tuesday. We have requested a premium site in a pet loop. We were there last year in the 400 loop and loved it and hope the site this year is half as nice as last year. The topic has been covered... the whole park is nice. The closer you are to the front where the boats are the better IMHO. If there was one thing I would change about the Fort is the fact we are arriving tomorrow and have called and still don't have a site assigned.
