The mega cab with the long bed could work for me as it rides a lot better.Sure the turning radius is a little bigger and when parking it does stick out a little farther.Planning your parking doesn't take rocket science and you might have to walk a little farther but,exercise is good for you.

I like a shortbed with a Superglide much more than the longbed. That being said, I just traded my shortbed in and got a longbed. I just want the space for an aux fuel tank, toolbox and all the junk I haul around.
I notice a huge difference in maneuvering space required. I now have to pull up to the garage and backup before I can get the angle needed to pull into the garage. This thing is almost as long as a couple of class C motorhomes I've had.

Fuel range is a big issue for me. Many short beds only carry 26 gallons or so. Having to stop often to refuel can be a pain. This means finding a gas station that can accommodate your rig etc. Long beds generally carry more fuel and have a longer traveling range

I watched a guy back in a few spots down from me with a short bed Superglide equipped Cheby and it left me absolutely drooling.
If I did the camp ground thing more, I'd ditch this LB CC 4WD cow for something that I can turn in under half an acre.

Ya gotta do that search and read until you overdose. The slider gang usually jump in and justify their spendings with pay me not or pay me later thoughts. I run a short box without slider and have never come close to the cab. Ya gotta keep some things in mind when driving. it helps to look first
Thats the same mentality as I have never dropped my 5ver on my bedrails, so I don't need a bedsaver, no I don't have a bedsaver nor do I intend to get one, but its certainally not bad advice to suggest a bedsaver or a slider, common sense tells you it only takes once. I have never come close to my cab either, but I am not foolish enough to think it can NEVER happen, and ANYONE that thinks it can never happen is pretty foolish.
I did not say it could never happen Some day one of those gall darn meteorites will probably hit me on the head. I just thought of something rather basic. I wonder if way back when my dad would have bought into putting a slider on the tractor that pulled the sugar/cow po po spreader.
I am just waiting for someone to invent and patent some kind of deflector that fits along the lower portion of the tires that is controlled my microwave transmission that will drop down and skid the tires around a curb when one cuts a corner too short.
Well obvioulsy you are among the millions that think it happens to the other guy by making light of it. I would also think you would be the last guy on earth to get on this forumn and tell everyone you just dropped your fiver on the bed or knocked out your rear window.
You know the old saying keep playing with fire and you will get burnt. It makes no sense to save 200.00 dollars on a hitch after spending thousands on truck and rv. A little info about the additional 10-14 inches you get when sliding the hitch back makes for a lot easier backing with the longer fulcrum, and of course the tighter you can turn.
