Anyone have any firsthand knowlege on the Wildwood brand travel trailers? I am considering purchasing a 2002 unit and have no idea if the quality is close to/better than my current KZ product. Thanks for any info you can provide!!!!!

You might want to contact www.rv.org, The RV Consumers Group, for a more objective appraisal of that unit than you will get from this forum.
Virtually all of the responses you will get from Wildwood owners will be positive. No one wants to tell the world that they made a mistake when they spent a bunch of money for an RV.

But even a bunch of positive responses are better than no responses - Come on all you Wildwood owners - where are you? I need ammo one way or the other...
I love my 2005, but it's an Oregon plant model, which from what I've seen seem to be better built. I've never had any problems with mine at all, and getting ready to take it into 9600 miles of trip.
Remember, with a used TT, the brand name is way less important than who owned it. I'd LOVE to buy one from me, but I'd NEVER buy one from my buddy. He barely does the minimum maint required to keep it going, and I'm super anal...make sure you check out all of the systems of any TT you're looking at, FR or not.

We love our 2007 Wildwood. We had about ten minor issues fixed Under Warranty, like loose trim, sticky window, leaky window, crooked drawer handle, stuff like that. Fixed them all at one time from a list after we used it all summer last year.
The LE Models are basically an entry level unit, but we love our floorplan and all the storage space. It also tows and handles well.
Axles/Suspension rides soft and does not allow anything inside to be out of place when we get to our destination. We put three Mountain Bikes inside on the beds, two on the Queen and one on the pull-out Sofa. Still sitting in the same position when we arrive. So far she has been real good to us.
The areas where I found the sloppiest work were on the roof with the Caulking. Did alot of touch up caulking just to make sure we didn't develop any leaks. Getting ready to give the Roof Caulk a once over again for this year around the stress areas, like the Roof Antenna's and wrap over edges near the gutters.
We purchased a 2002 Sandpiper band new, the same year three people at our camp purchased Wildwoods. ALL four Trailers rotted! I have been a camper my entire life and know how to take care of a travel trailer. I have never seen anything like it before! All for units leaked, however it was not coming through in the camper. The roofs rotted. One guy spent $8,000.00 to repair his. Ours had flying ants and a musty smell. The day my husband and I traded ours in he put his hand on the ceiling and water started dripping out! I have not heard of anyone that was pleased with their Forest River Product. We are from the Northeast I don't know if that makes a difference. We traded ours in for a 2007 Layton and it is wonderful! Even after the long winter we had up here we opened it up and it still smelled like a new trailer.
Please, Please don't buy that trailer, especially because it is a 2002, all of ours were the same year - '02!
I have a 2005 Wildwood 31qbss and love it. We had a 2004 Coachmen before and I think the Wildwood is built much better. The floor seems stronger, the frame is bigger, plenty of storage and we love the layout.
We have a 2007 Wildwood. We bought it brand new and when we bought it, we didn't know a lot about the different models/quality. A month after we purchased, we visited this site and read all kinds of horror stories and thought "WHAT HAVE WE DONE!" We then found a few defects, like cracked shower panel, bubbles in decals, small split in vinyl flooring, all of which were covered under the 1st year. We haven't had any problems in the 15 months that we've owned it. We love the floorplan and a lot of the features but now that we've looked around at others, we realize that although the quality with our wildwood is ok, there are other brands that have a much better quality and more detailed work in them. When we first found the defects, it seemed as if Forest River just threw it together as quick as they could and then shipped it to SC by way of 'The Bandit'LOL.
After all this, we are very pleased with what we got because it was in our price range. Now, take into consideration that we only camp a few times a year so really there shouldn't be anything happening with this unit as far as wear and tear goes. Better not be anyway. Forest River makes some good units, I think Puma is a much nicer one than Wildwood. Seems like Wildwood is the generic brand but again, we are satisfied so far, it's only been 15 months though.

This point can't be overlooked. Our brand new 2005 24' TT was under $14k, complete with the bells and whistles we needed in it. This isn't a Montana level trailer. You can't expect to buy at what really is the lowest price point and get highest price point quality. Now, that doesn't include stuff like the roof rotting out, but some of the little things you see in workmanship, and basic materials.
