We just sold our house in Texas and will be buying a house in Arkansas outside of Little Rock to be close to our son, his wife and our first Grandbaby that is due next week.
We will be done here in about 45 days, we are going to leave our cars at our son's house and the furniture in storage. Now, we are going to have all our mail sent to our son's house and will have our laptop with a broadband card to pay bills etc... Now do we need to register our cars in AR. to our son's address or what do we have to do? We just don't know, this was a "quick" decision, to go on the road for 3 months..
Thanks,
Jim

What are your state's rules for registering vehicle's without an address - or what are the rules for how long you have to turn in your plates after you move?

If you are only going for three months, then you're not fulltiming, just on an extended vacation. If I were you, I'd go ahead and register the cars, etc. at your son's residence for right now. Then change when you get your new place.

Wow, You don't need to do anything unless your plates are about to expire. Your not working you are retired. Looking for a new domicile. You have six months or of living in any state with have to change residence withoug anyone bothering you.
You can by a house in any state, that doesn't make you a resident. You can have mail delivered where ever you wish, that doesn't make you a resident. Keep doing what your doing till you settled down, then if you wish to change residence, go turn in your drives license and get a license for that state, That will make you a resident.
Even you car registration doesn't make you a resident. You can own cars in any state you wish, as long as there insured and registered. Just go in stride and think out your next moves. JM2Cents Bill
Thanks for all the advice, I kind of thought we could just "Look around" for 3 months and maintain the Texas plates....
But, I will check more into it..
Until your plates or drivers' licenses are due to expire and as long as you're going to be traveling a good bit of the time, I wouldn't think you'd need to do anything. Who knows--you may decide to fulltime for awhile and there are lots of advantages to being a Texan! If that's a possibility, check out the Escapees site for more info.

It will depend upon the laws in AK, how long you have before you must register them there. If you want to be sure, just check with the DMV when you get there.
The only problem might be insurance - since you have SOLD your home, the address listed wouldn't be valid in case of a wreck, etc. That's why I suggested just registering the vehicles in Arkansas since that is where you are going to land anyway.
