We just had our rig in for a problem with the bedroom slide: it would not extend or retract. Technicians found it was a broken shear pin, quickly replaced. If you're interested in the symptoms: with the slideout switch on, we could hear the electric motor going, but not doing anything. The shear pin is the prevent wrecking the motor or other mechanism. Now we're ready for the road again.

I always carry a couple 1/4 in bolts just for that reason.
Did they figure out why it sheared?

I had that problem with a Coachmen motorhome I used to have. The problem was that when you would press on the switch they were not equipped with a surge relay to stop once it builts up resistance. So either you would shear off the pin or strip the aluminum pinion gear. That was on a 2002 Aurora. Coachment installed a surge relay switch and I got rid of the coach.
Never have any problems with the coach I have now, it is all hydralic.
