We will be going from Chicago to Memphis next week. I'm going to be going down I-57. Has anyone driven this lately with the flooding? I saw something on the state web site that it might be closed around Quincey IL. I would appreciate any help. Also any suggestions for a route from Monticello IN. back to Chicago's west suburbs? I want to stay away from I65 in Indiana.
Thanks

Other than the fact that a levee just broke north of Quincy, I can't respond (with any helpful info) on I-57. I'd check with IDOT.
As far as your return route from Monticello, I'd recommend heading over to US 41 (assuming you want to totally miss 65) and go north to (IN)SR 2 WEST (stoplight, closed-up old restaurant on nw corner). Take that west across the border (it becomes IL 17). That road will curve to the north after several miles; stay on it (it will pick up & become IL SR 1), continue through the town of Beecher, and a few miles later it goes 4-lane after a BIG stop sign, and becomes 394. Take 394 to I-80 west (follow the signs for Wisconsin). You can take it from there.

Suggestion--From DuPage County why not take I355 to I55, instead of going into all the traffice getting to I57. Then at Bloomington you have a choice either I55 all the way to Memphis or I74 east to I57 then to Memphis.

Drove I57 between Chicago and Effingham (en route to St. Louis and back) last weekend and everything was fine. Don't know about south of Effingham. St. Louis was preparing for the flooding but the major water had not arrived yet (except for Grafton, IL and a few MO towns north of St. Louis).
kknowlton's route in Indiana is a good one.

I355 to 80 east to 57 south has next to zero traffic unless there's an accident. Take it every time we're headed south from Bolingbrook. Plus there's no construction as there is on 55 from Bbrook south to 80.

I-57 doesn't come anywhere close to Quincy, IL. I-57 runs along the east side of the state. Quincy is on the far west about 200 miles west of I-57. Everything is wet in southern IL but no problem with flooding along I-57. There is some construction on I-57 but not as much as along I-55 and you'll hit fewer delays.
