I just have to tell y'all about my trip. as heading out last week heading to Washington state. Let's say things did not go well. Every since I have had this 06 Winnebago I have had problems with fluid dripping from the Hydraulic tank for the jacks & slides, the dealer has supposedly fixed it 4 times. Have spoke with HWH on numerous occasions, they have made many suggestions but none corrected the problem.
When I reached the camp grounds in Lamar,Co. and parked and started putting the jacks down, they all went down but 1. and it shut off just as if it was level. I got out and checked and I had about a 1/4 cup of fluid on the ground under the tank. I hit the button again for the jacks and nothing happened. the jack panel did not even light up. My brother-in-law who was traveling with us in their coach, started fumbling with the wire connections at the box (located back to the right of the left front wheel)and all of a sudden the jack panel light up, I pushed the button for the jacks to level things out and put the slides out, every thing worked fine. So we assumed a wire had came un-hooked. Next morning slides went in jacks went up and we were on our way. got to Cheyenne,WY. Parked in the camp ground and nothing would work, jacks would not go down.
I called HWH (however they were having water problems back there in Iowa) so the guy gave me some suggestions and nothing worked. He told me to see if my bedroom slide would work. It did. So after using blocks to level the coach I started to put the bedroom slide out, about a foot out it stopped and would not go in or out. I again called HWH to see if there was a repair shop in Cheyenne, he informed me the closest was in Boise,Id. But gave me the number of a RV shop in Cheyenne that may help. I called and made an appointment for the next morning. Drove right down through town with the slide hanging out. After about 20 minutes the mechanic stated he didn't know enough about the system to fix it, charged me 30 bucks and sent me on my way asked him if he could get the BDRM slide in and he said he didn't know how.
So back to the camp ground on the way back to the camp ground my kitchen slide came out about 3" all by it's self, hit the button and in it came in. Tried the bedroom slide and nothing, so next morning headed back for Texas. Stopped in Hugo,Co. for a break and just for the heck of it I tried to put the slide in, yep, you guessed it. The slide came in just like it was suppose to. So on down the road we came. I called the dealer and he is not sure just what the trouble is but would be glad to look at it some time in the next couple of weeks, if he could work it in. So I located another RV place "not a dealer" who told me he had been to the HWH school and he says he can surely fix it. So next week he made me an appointment and in I go. Wish me luck. Sorry this is so long.

Good luck on this, the dealer should have bumped up with all trouble you have had. Keep us posted.

Your owner's manual tells you how to hand crank in the slide. Pretty expensive ticket for being overwidth going down the road, not to mention the hazard.

Yea, you right. But the bed room slide does not have a place to crank it in, you have to release the pressure and push it in. But we pushed with all we had that sucker would not budge.

My vote is for a loose or broken ground wire. Your BIL located the problem but it doesn't sound like you followed up. Check that panel that your BIL messed with and trace the wires. Have your DW watch the panel and mess with the wires, one at a time. When the panel lights flash trace that wire. My guess is it's a ground wire, so it could be white, green or black. If you have a tester thats even better. Intermmitent shorts are sometimes miserable to trace, but I would wager money on a ground short. Good luck...let us know the outcome...Dennis...

I have a 2002 winn cheiftian and the hydrulic leaks were there after I had one company change out my rams for the main slide. I took the rv to paw paws camper city and they started fixing the leaks. While going in and out with the slide it stopped and would not go in and the jacks would not go down to the ground either. They found the ground wire broken at the frame. Working great now. Cudos to paw paws for finding the prob and thank you God for letting it happen in the shop and not on the road..
