I wasn't going to say it, but now I will. Over the years, the Saskatchewan government has taken the fuel tax dollars from commercial fuel for transports and not put it back into the roads. They spend it on other things, but not infrastructure. You only have your own government to blame for that.

And ib516 I resemble that comment about "tree hugging", at least the trees I want to haul after they have been cut up and I get to haul the wood chips.

While you Canadians were badmouthing each other, and complaining about taxes, I looked up 'Saskatchewan highways' on the web, and found a site that discusses many of them. It has pictures from 2003

There is even an entry for the highway on wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saskatchewan_Highway_35
This article mentions stretches of the highway near the US border which have deteriorated to muddy gravel. The telenium.ca site lists seal coating operations on this southern segment. It sounds as though 6 or 39 would be better choices when heading to the States.

I don't know how it is in Canada, but in the US, most fuel taxes are xxx cents per gallon, not a % of the price. Rising prices and decreased consumption can actually result in fewer highway dollars.

Robag,

I pm'd you. I'll be taking highway 6 as it looks like the last section of 35 before the border is in rough shape.
