CampingGrandma, there is somewhat of an oxymoron about your post. You hate someone that does not know the rules, then you chastise the person for passing on the right. Might they have had to do so because of someone "not knowing the rules" traveling along in the left lane? I am an ex truck driver and a retired police officer and I have seen a lot of cars just toddle along in the left lane causing someone to move to the right to pass. Unfortunately it is not illegal to toddle in the left lane unless posted otherwise, possible it is annoying but not illegal. Time to stop the grumbling and move on to another topic.
Let's all try to drive defensively and have a Safe Journey.

My question to the guy who got hit with a spotlight is WHY WERE YOU PASSING ON THE RIGHT? The left lane is for passing not the right. Something that irritates me to no end, folks don't know the rules of the road these days.

Maybe because the truck was moving slowly in the left lane?
I have to agree with you about being irritated with folks that don't know the rules of the road. Here's an excerpt from the California Vehicle Code..
Passing on the Right
21754. The driver of a motor vehicle may overtake and pass to the right of another vehicle only under the following conditions:

(a) When the vehicle overtaken is making or about to make a left turn.

(b) Upon a highway within a business or residence district with unobstructed pavement of sufficient width for two or more lines of moving vehicles in the direction of travel.

(c) Upon any highway outside of a business or residence district with unobstructed pavement of sufficient width and clearly marked for two or more lines of moving traffic in the direction of travel.

(d) Upon a one-way street.

(e) Upon a highway divided into two roadways where traffic is restricted to one direction upon each of such roadways.

The provisions of this section shall not relieve the driver of a slow moving vehicle from the duty to drive as closely as practicable to the right hand edge of the roadway.

I have had no real bad times due to truckers, on occasion one will do something
to T me off. Once I was in a rest stop looking under my MH and a trucker walks up and asked me if I wanted to barrow any tools or if he could help.
I think the majority are good people working hard to make a living.
