I put a white grocery store bag over it and leave it on the truck. The white color keeps folks from whacking their shin and also keeps the grease from getting on kids, dogs, clothes, etc.

I leave the hitch on the truck pretty much all the time, with a locking pin to ensure it stays there. I leave my tow hook attatchment in the front hitch all the time too. I don't see the point in removing them, except to change hitches for different trailers as needed.

Remove it?? Why would you want to remove it? Just leave it on with a hitch lock and put weight distribution bars inside front storage compartment.

Our Equal-i-zer draw bar stays locked in the TV receiver. We just wipe off grease. Regrease before hooking up. We've done it for years and after the first two or three times you bang into it, you remember, and never hit it again (at least we do not).

We off road so it comes off and hangs on the coupler locked and secure.
Plus if you remove the head and bars in one operation it means pulling only one pin in the receiver. Pulling the bars is two pins. It's faster and less work to just hang it on the trailer, and it stays clean while we day trip.

I leave it on with a locking hitch pin and then put an orange ball cover on. The bars are left on the trailer tongue. Like the others have said, I've never had a problem. Taking it inside the TT and putting on cardboard under the bed sounds like a good idea.
Has anyone ever heard of a problem with torque bards, etc getting stolen?

pretty much the same here
Ditto on that too.
Any other suggestions seeing how I don't have a Burb??
I don't have a Burb, I have a Ram and I leave it on the truck with a locking pin. Never had a problem yet.

Leave it on. It weighs way too much for this ol' man to be slinging it around too often.

Yep my thoughts exactly. I wipe the ball with a paper towel so you don't get grease on your clothes when you brush up against the hitch.

We got the idea from someone else on this forum. We mounted a slimline toolbox, purchased from Lowes, on the tongue behind the propane tank. We mounted the battery in the bottom of the toolbox and then we put the tow bars, hitch along with the chocks and anything used to set-up camper on site in there. It works perfect because everything is in one place. Will post picture tonight.
