We've stayed at a handful of them since 2002.

The folks at the Point South, SC KOA are super.

The one in/near Fayetteville, NC is very resonably priced, and again, the folks are super nice, and have a fine campground.

To each their own. There's always WalMart.

There's more variation in KOA's then I would expect for a national chain. I know the parent inspects the facilties, since an inspector was on site the day we were at the KOA in Cedar City, UT. I just don't know what they look for. We been in some really nice KOA's and some really bad KOA's. We don't avoid KOA's, but we are sure to check the feedback on RVParkreviews. Just because it says KOA, doesn't mean it's good.

I do think there pricing is on the high side compared to alternatives and there's just the two of us, usually. In the old days - before the internet - information was more difficult to come by, so the quick solution to finding a CG was to stop at a KOA. Now with all the information on the internet, I don't understand why someone would stay at one of the bad ones or pay more for a site, if there was a viable alternative around.

The last KOA I stayed at was last year in Watsonville. CA. I was charged $85.00 for one night and that was with my 10% Kamping Kard discount. The place was packed (closely), dry as a bone, dirty, and noisy all night.

I've stayed at many KOAs over the years (most while motorcycle vacationing). In those times, I was pretty much satisfied. But this last event really soured me.

In retrospect, and from my current position of Oregon State Parks campground host (full-time), perhaps my outlook about such things has been irreversibly changed.

We've always been pleased with the KOAs we've stayed at.

However, we don't stay at them just because they are KOAs. We pick them if/when we believe it's the best campground for us.

IOW, we prefer to judge each one on it's individual pros and cons and compared to other campgrounds in the same area, rather than judging the chain as a whole with a broad brush.

I have camped at many KOA's and my most recent was last month in Paducah KY. I completely agree they don't hold the same value they did years ago. Was about $45 and digs were underwhelming.

First off: We don't use KOA's because of the pricing. We just can't afford that luxury as fulltimers. KOA's marketing is geared to the two week vacation family who just assume that the big KOA sign indicates the only place to camp overnight while in transit or as a final destination. Just my opinion, but people who utilize their RV's on a more regular basis just won't find KOA's to be a viable option. There are just too many other affordable options that aren't as well known and advertised.

Been a member of KOA for 10 years now. I have seen good and bad in KOA's that we stayed at. I know that some are no longer KOA campgrounds, we feel because maybe they did not conform to the new KOA standards. One near us Twin Grove KOA near Pine Grove PA is a flagship model for KOA. The staff is wonderful and the sites are very large. As for the price, everything is going up even State Parks and resorts. Just a sign of the times. I think at KOA at least you know ahead of time what your getting. The on-line reservation is neat. I would give KOA an overall 8 out of 10 rating. Hard to find a 10 campground anywhere.

Just returned from a 4 week trip and stayed at a number of KOAs. We must have stayed a different parks. Avg fee was $29. Our opinion is they are above average, clean, friendly, some offer meals and all escort you to your site.
