our freezer always has room for ice cream. the biggest thing i've learned:

no matter how many times you take off and drive around to find a new place, my cats never enjoy the drive.

The other day in the Laundromat I put a 20 in the machine and put the quarters in the pocket of my shorts. Almost lost the shorts with the weight of the money. I was walking around holding them up till I put it in the 6 machines I was using. Doing laundry is getting very costly.
Next 5er is going to have a 12 q f fridge.

Yes, I am still surprised at all the places which require quarters .. we used to see half-dollars a lot, but don't remember the last time I saw a 50 cent piece. Aren't candy machines now accepting quarters?

I went into the park office for a roll of pennies and couldn't believe the look I got. We use pennies when playing Train (dominoes), and so have to buy $1 worth every so often. Just hadn't gone to the office before for them.

I try and keep at least 2 rolls of quarters all the time .. thank goodness for cell phones .. remember going to the pay-phones scattered around town and having to call home or call the next town? Had to take a whole pocketfull in order to have the right change for when the operator said how much we had to deposit in order to continue talking to the party we called. And when traveling had to drive around to find them so that we could call our friends and ask them how to get to their place?

I still like my longggg hottt showerssss, even if I have to take quarters with me to the showers. Fortunately I don't have to pay for showers here in the park where we are for a couple more months!

. . . We get monthly meds so have plenty of free containers. We now use those as our Quarter holders stuffed into the glove box or center console for any Quarter Emergency.

A casualty caused by most folks using digital cameras: no more 35mm film canisters, which were perfect quarter holders.

One thing we've found out to our great delight is that we talk more. We both tend to be loners (he an only child, me an only girl with 3 older brothers). In the big house, he'd be downstairs, I'd be upstairs. but in the 5'er, we're together and enjoy each other more. A definate answer to my prayers!

I've offically spent my first full month in a CG.

I have found I have made more friends in this past month than I have in years! People you don't even know coming over to help you out, and for me the advice from the 'seasoned one's' is priceless.
It's a very good feeling, except when they pull out.

ALWAYS to take the road less traveled anytime you can.

Stop and visit places on the whim and be willing to throw out any plans that you may have!

The willingness to be flexible and spontaneous. This was very easy for me and my better type A half is much better at it. The 20 years of sailing with me broke her in for me!

Remember, at times s**t happens so just sit back and laugh about it!

ALWAYS have a lot of quarters!! We just stop at a bank and go in and buy several rolls.

Remember, its the journey thats usually important, not the destination. (a true sailors outlook!!)

Enjoy the journey.

We love the fact that we are meeting new "friends" all the time since we started living this new lifestyle. Was that only five months ago?

In the beginning it was kinda funny. We love to take walks around what ever campground we were in and strike up conversations with other rv'ers. We would find ourselves talking, sometimes till after dark, with folks we just met, and the next thing we knew they were handing us a "business" type card.. We would go get a sticky note and exchange names and email addresses. After this happened more than a few times, we knew we had to "update" from sticky notes to make some of those "business" type cards too.

Five months on the road and we have sooo many of those cards that have filled several pages in our card holder. We keep in touch with many of those folks on a regular bases... We just met up again with couple we met in Casa Grande, the first week we were on the road. We met up with them again here in Wyoming at a rally and will spend the 4h of July with them and other new friends.

Oh yes, I keep rolls of quarters on hand all the time..

We love this life.
